Frequently Asked Questions
How do you care for a Clusia in a hydroponic jar? Regularly check the water level and top up if needed, completely change the water every 2 to 3 months with a few drops of liquid fertilizer, and clean the jar if deposits appear — that’s really all you need to do.
Can the LED on the Kingston jar replace natural light for the plant? No, the LED is decorative ambient lighting, not horticultural lighting — the plant needs bright indirect natural light in addition to maintain its growth and healthy foliage over the long term.

🌿 Clusia in hydroponics • 💡 Built-in LED • 🔒 Airtight Kingston jar • 💧 Soil-free • ✨ Ready to display
Native to the Caribbean and Central America, the Clusia — nicknamed the "Autograph Tree" for its thick leaves on which inscriptions can be traced — is presented here in a transparent glass Kingston jar with a distinctive shape and airtight lid, featuring integrated LED lighting. Its roots grow directly in water, creating a fascinating self-sustaining mini-ecosystem to observe. One of the most stylish pieces in our gift ideas collection and our original plants.
Which Clusia presentation to choose?
The hydroponic Clusia is available in several formats and containers with different designs:
- Clusia Kingston jar LED (this plant) — Kingston glass jar with a distinctive shape, built-in LED, large size (H30 cm | Ø12 cm). The version with the most distinctive design.
- Clusia glass jar LED — classic cylindrical jar with LED, large size (H30 cm | Ø12 cm). The cleanest and most classic version.
- Clusia cylindrical jar without LED — same jar without lighting (H30 cm | Ø12 cm). The most understated version.
- Clusia Samoa LED — mini — compact small size with LED (H10 cm | Ø5 cm). The ideal miniature version for a desk or bedside table.
- Clusia Samoa without LED — mini — small, simple version without lighting (H10 cm | Ø5 cm). The most accessible version to start with.
Light & placement
- Light: bright indirect light — avoid direct sunlight which can overheat the glass jar and the roots immersed in water.
- Ideal locations: desk, shelf, bedside table, windowsill, or console table.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, without sudden changes.
- LED: built-in ambient lighting — battery or USB powered depending on the model received.
Watering & care
- Water level: check regularly and top up with room temperature water if the level drops — this is the only regular maintenance needed.
- Water change: completely renew the water every 2 to 3 months to keep it fresh and prevent algae growth.
- Cleaning: clean the Kingston jar with a soft cloth if deposits appear on the glass walls.
- Fertilizer: a few drops of liquid fertilizer for green plants every 2 to 3 months — everything you need to know about plant nutrition applies here with even smaller doses than in traditional cultivation.
Decor ideas & combinations
- Design gift idea: delivered fully ready to gift and display — one of the best plant gift ideas for someone who never has plants, with no maintenance or soil hassle. The Kingston jar adds a distinctive design character compared to the classic cylindrical jar.
- As a plant nightlight: placed on a bedside table, its LED creates a soft, warm light in the evening — a unique combination of plant and ambient light that turns the plant into a luminous decor object.
- Soil-free decor composition: pair it with a Tillandsia King Xero on a metal stand and a Clusia Samoa LED mini — three contemporary soil-free plant objects for a fully greened shelf without demanding watering.
Verdeia tips
- Watch root growth: the transparent Kingston jar makes root development in water visible — one of the most fascinating aspects of hydroponic cultivation, both educational and decorative.
- Avoid direct sunlight on the jar: direct light heats the water, encourages algae growth, and can burn roots — bright indirect light is more than enough to keep the plant healthy.
- Change water every 2 to 3 months: even if the level is stable, stagnant water gradually loses nutrients — regular changes with a few drops of liquid fertilizer keep the plant vigorous long-term.

Our Verdeia commitments
FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
