Frequently Asked Questions
Why do Anthurium leaves turn brown at the edges? Browning at the leaf edges indicates air that is too dry or irregular watering — increase ambient humidity and water regularly with low-calcium water.
What is the difference between Anthurium crystallinum and Anthurium clarinervium? Both have spectacular silver veins on a velvety background, but the clarinervium has thicker leaves and even more pronounced and contrasting veins than the crystallinum.

🌿 Large velvety green heart-shaped leaves • ✨ Spectacular silver veins • ☀️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌱 Collector’s plant • 📏 H20 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Anthurium crystallinum, or Anthurium cristallin, is a collector’s plant native to the tropical understories of Central and South America. Its large deep green velvety heart-shaped leaves are marked by spectacular silver veins that create a striking contrast — a botanical luxury piece that brings a strong and sophisticated plant presence.
Discover them in our collection of original and rare plants.
Which Anthurium variety to choose?
The Anthurium genus offers several very different varieties in our catalog:
- Anthurium crystallinum (this plant) — H20 cm | Pot Ø12 cm. Large velvety heart-shaped leaves with spectacular silver veins. The botanical luxury version.
- Anthurium clarinervium — thicker leaves with even more pronounced and contrasting veins. The XXL veins version.
- Anthurium Red — large bright red spathes, long-lasting bloom. The spectacular flowering version.
- Anthurium White — elegant and pure white spathes. The refined flowering version.
- Anthurium Amor Negro — almost black burgundy spathes, very graphic. The dark and dramatic version.
The crystallinum and clarinervium are the two collector varieties with velvety veined foliage — other Anthuriums are mainly appreciated for their long-lasting ornamental flowers.
Exposure & location
The Anthurium crystallinum thrives in bright indirect light — like that filtered through the canopy of its natural habitat. Check out our light and humidity guide to optimize its placement.
- Light: bright partial shade / bright indirect light — avoid direct sunlight which burns the foliage.
- Ideal: near an east or north-facing window with sheer curtains, bright living room, design office.
- Temperature: 18 to 26 °C, protected from drafts.
- Humidity: preferred above 55–60% — clay pebble tray or humidifier recommended.
Place it next to other tropical plants to naturally create a more humid and stable microclimate.
Watering & care
Anthurium crystallinum prefers a slightly moist and very airy substrate. Check our watering guide to find the right rhythm.
- Watering: moderate — allow 1 to 2 cm of the surface to dry out between waterings.
- Substrate: very airy — potting soil for green plants + perlite + coconut fiber.
- Fertilizer: light but frequent in spring and summer (once every 2 to 3 weeks, reduced dose).
- Care: gently dust the leaves to preserve their velvety shine.
Increase ambient humidity rather than misting the velvety leaves directly — water on the foliage can leave marks and promote fungal diseases.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
Its large heart-shaped leaves with silver veins make it a natural focal point in any plant arrangement — a sculptural presence that stands out effortlessly.
- In combination: pair it with a Philodendron Micans with velvety trailing foliage, a Monstera Adansonii with cut-out leaves, or a Calathea Makoyana for a graphic foliage arrangement with varied textures.
- Ideal pot: matte beige ceramic, stone, or terracotta — neutral mineral tones emphasize the silver veins without competing with them. The Capi Nature Groove taupe or the Capi Nature Skin anthracite perfectly complement the velvety foliage.
- Placement: place it on a console or pedestal to highlight the heart-shaped silhouette of its leaves.
Verdeia advice
- Low-lime water essential — water with room temperature, low-lime water. Lime deposits leave irreversible white marks on the velvety leaves and permanently dull the shine of the silver veins. Use filtered or water left to rest for 24 hours.
- Stable location = exceptional foliage — the size, sharpness, and contrast of the silver veins directly depend on stable conditions. A consistently bright and humid spot produces wider, sharper, and more contrasted leaves than a variable location.
- Set up a discreet stake — if the petioles lengthen and the plant loses its compact shape, a small discreet stake will provide support and encourage the growth of larger new leaves.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
