Frequently Asked Questions
Can the wooden base get wet when changing the water? No — simply remove the jar from its base before changing the water, rinse the jar separately, then place it back on the base once filled. The electronic base should never come into contact with water.
Is the LED beneficial for the plant or just decorative? The LED lighting in this base is mainly decorative — it lights from below and does not reproduce the light spectrum needed for photosynthesis. The plant needs bright indirect natural light to grow properly, regardless of the LED.

🌿 Hydroponic Clusia • 💡 Wood base with built-in LED • 💧 Illuminated visible roots • ☀️ Indirect light • 🎁 Ready to gift • 📏 H10 cm | Jar Ø5 cm
The Clusia in Samoa jar with LED is a mini hydroponic plant presented in a narrow-neck spherical jar, placed on a **natural wood base with integrated LED lighting**. The Clusia rosea, also called the Autograph tree, is a tropical plant native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. The LED lights the base from below, illuminating the golden roots visible through the glass — a soft and fascinating light effect, especially striking in the evening.
Soil-free, simplified care, neat presentation. Discover in our plant gift selection and in our collection of unique plants.
Which size of hydroponic Clusia to choose?
Clusia is available in several glass container sizes, each with a distinct aesthetic:
- Clusia Samoa jar with LED (this product) — spherical jar on wooden LED base, H10 cm | Jar Ø5 cm. The brightest and most design-forward version.
- Clusia Samoa jar without LED — same spherical jar without lighted base. The classic clean version.
- Clusia Victoria jar on black metal stand — sphere on arched black metal stand, H10 cm | Jar Ø5 cm. The sculptural version.
- Clusia glass tube with LED — cylindrical tube with built-in LED, H10 cm | Tube Ø5 cm. The sleek illuminated version.
- Clusia glass tube without LED — cylindrical tube with cork stopper, H15 cm | Tube Ø5 cm. The sleek minimalist version.
- Clusia cylinder jar — open cylindrical jar, H30 cm | Jar Ø12 cm. The imposing version.
Why choose the LED version? The wooden base with LED turns the golden roots into a true light show — placed on a desk or bedside table, it serves as both a decorative nightlight and a living plant. It’s the most gift-friendly size in the range.
Exposure & location
The Clusia Samoa LED jar enjoys bright indirect light — avoid direct sunlight which overheats the water and encourages algae. The LED lighting does not replace natural light for the plant.
- Exposure: bright indirect light — avoid direct sunlight.
- Ideal for: desk, bedside table, shelf, bright bathroom, or bedroom.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, without sudden changes.
The lighting effect is especially spectacular in the evening in a dim room — the LED illuminates the golden roots from within, creating a unique plant ambiance.
Watering & care
Same principle as all open hydroponic jars — maintain a constant water level and renew it regularly.
- Water level: cover the roots without fully submerging the stem.
- Water renewal: change the water every 2 to 3 weeks with room temperature water.
- Water type: filtered, rain, or tap water left to rest for 24 hours.
- Fertilizer: a few drops of very diluted liquid fertilizer during the water change, once a month.
- Cleaning: rinse the jar with each water change to prevent algae.
Remove the jar from its base to change the water — the LED base is separate from the jar and should not be wet.
Decor ideas & combinations
The combination of a spherical jar + wooden LED base creates a unique glowing plant decor object — neither a classic plant nor a simple nightlight, but both at the same time.
- On its own: place it alone on a bedside table or desk — its natural wood base and soft light create a soothing plant presence without cluttering the space.
- In arrangements: pair it with our LED-supported hydroponic trio for a composition of luminous plants with varied designs.
- As a gift: this is one of the most original plant gifts in our catalog — the LED wooden base immediately sets it apart from all classic plants.
Verdeia advice
- The LED lights from below — the wooden base houses the lighting that illuminates the jar and roots from underneath. For the best effect, turn on the LED in a dim room in the evening — the golden roots transform into a fascinating glowing plant display.
- Remove the jar to change the water — the LED base and jar are two separate parts. Simply lift the jar from its base to empty, rinse, and refill the water, then replace it. The base should never get wet.
- Roots naturally brown — this is normal as long as the leaves remain healthy. Under the LED, the roots take on golden and amber hues that are especially decorative — a unique visual effect not found in other formats.
- Non-toxic — Clusia poses no risk to cats, dogs, or children.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
