Frequently Asked Questions
How to water a Peperomia without risking rot? Water from the bottom by placing the pot in a container of water for 10 to 15 minutes, let the soil soak up the water by capillarity, then drain completely before putting the plant back in place.
How often should you repot a Peperomia? Only every 2 to 3 years, into a pot just one size larger — Peperomia likes to be slightly snug and a pot that’s too big retains too much moisture.

🌿 Slate gray-green foliage with silvery highlights • 🌑 Tolerates low light • 💧 Very low watering needs • 🌱 Very easy to care for • 🐾 Non-toxic • 📏 H15 cm | Pot Ø11 cm
The Peperomia 'Napoli Nights' is a compact houseplant native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. Its fleshy slate gray-green leaves with silvery highlights and pronounced veins, burgundy undersides and stems, add a touch of elegant sophistication - it is one of the most graphic varieties in the Peperomia genus. Tolerant of low light, requiring very little water, and non-toxic - an ideal plant for small spaces and beginners.
Pair it with Peperomias and plants for shade.
Which Peperomia variety should you choose?
The Peperomia genus offers great diversity in our catalog:
- Peperomia Napoli Nights (this plant) - H15 cm | Pot Ø11 cm. Slate gray-green foliage with silvery highlights, pronounced veins, and burgundy undersides. The graphic slate version.
- Peperomia Rosso - dark green and burgundy-red embossed foliage with a spectacular texture. The textured burgundy version.
- Peperomia Rana Verde - bright glossy green foliage with compact, fleshy leaves. The vibrant green version.
- Peperomia Red Canyon - spectacular bright red foliage. The intense red version.
- Peperomia sarcophylla - thick silvery-green foliage with pronounced veins. The graphic silvery version.
- Peperomia Rotundifolia - round bright green foliage with trailing stems. The classic trailing version.
Light & placement
Peperomia Napoli Nights is one of the most tolerant houseplants for low-light conditions - a valuable quality for dimly lit spaces.
- Light: low to medium indirect light, tolerates shade - avoid direct sun, which fades the slate-colored foliage.
- Ideal location: office, shelf, bedroom, bathroom, hallway, or a room away from windows.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden fluctuations.
- Potting mix: light and well-draining - universal potting soil with perlite.
Its foliage with silvery highlights absorbs more light than lighter varieties - this is what allows it to survive in low-light conditions where other Peperomia plants would struggle.
Watering & care
Peperomia stores water in its fleshy leaves and strongly prefers being underwatered to being overwatered. The right watering routine helps avoid the 10 common mistakes, starting with overwatering.
- Watering: very low - allow the potting mix to dry out thoroughly between waterings.
- Frequency: approximately every 2 weeks in spring and summer, once a month in winter.
- Humidity: tolerates dry air - no misting necessary.
- Fertilizer: every 6 to 8 weeks in spring and summer with diluted liquid fertilizer.
Stem and root rot caused by excess water is the main cause of plant loss - always wait until the potting mix is completely dry before watering.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its slate gray foliage makes it a strong accent plant - it creates a striking contrast with green or variegated foliage and brings rare sophistication to a plant arrangement.
- For pairing: pair it with a Pilea peperomioides with round light green leaves or a Zamioculcas - the contrast between the deep green of Napoli Nights and lighter foliage creates a highly graphic composition.
- Ideal decorative pot: matte white, gray, or terracotta ceramic - light, neutral tones highlight the silvery highlights and burgundy undersides of the foliage.
- Placement: perfect on a desk, shelf, or dimly lit windowsill where few other plants would survive.
Verdeia tips
- Water from below for greater safety - place the pot in a container of water for 10 to 15 minutes, let the potting mix absorb the water by capillary action, then drain thoroughly. This method prevents excess water on the surface, which encourages stem rot, and respects the plant's natural absorption rhythm.
- Wipe the leaves regularly - run a soft, slightly damp cloth over the fleshy leaves every 2 to 3 weeks. Dust that accumulates on the foliage with silvery highlights is particularly visible and reduces the plant's ability to capture the little light available.
- Do not repot too often - Peperomia likes being slightly root-bound in its pot. Repot only every 2 to 3 years in spring, using a pot just one size larger - a pot that is too large retains too much moisture and encourages rot.

What to do upon receiving my plant?
