Exposure & placement
The Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' enjoys bright indirect light to maintain its vibrant orange and copper colors. The more light it receives (without direct sun), the more colorful the new leaves will be.
- Exposure: bright indirect light, avoid direct sun that burns young colorful leaves.
- Ideal: near an east- or north-facing window, bright shelf, bright desk, or living room with filtered light.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden changes.
- Substrate: light, airy, and well-drained, tropical plant soil with perlite and bark.
Verdeia tip: if the new leaves are mostly green without orange hues, it’s a sign the plant lacks light — move it to a brighter spot.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate; let the top 2-3 cm of substrate dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer, reduce in winter.
- Drainage: essential — use a pot with drainage holes and a very well-draining substrate.
- Humidity: prefers 60-70% humidity, mist occasionally or place near a humidifier.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring-summer with a diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
- Cleaning: gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to preserve their shiny glow.
Rotate the plant regularly for even growth and uniform colors on all leaves.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
With its evolving orange and copper foliage, the Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' adds a touch of warmth and energy to your urban jungle. It creates a bright and cozy focal point.
- Pair with: other Philodendrons (Birkin, White Princess), Calathea, Maranta, or plants with dark green foliage to create an elegant contrast.
- Ideal pot: matte ceramic decorative pot (white, gray, terracotta) or woven basket to highlight the warm tones.
- Atmosphere: perfect on a bright shelf, desk, console, or coffee table to create a warm and colorful accent.
The orange and copper shades create a spectacular contrast with plants that have dark green or silver foliage.
