Frequently Asked Questions
Can Peperomia Raindrop live in a windowless office? It tolerates low light better than many plants, but a room with no natural light at all will eventually wear it out in the long run. A grow light on for a few hours a day effectively compensates for the lack of a window and keeps the foliage healthy and shiny.
Why are the leaves of my Peperomia Raindrop softening? Soft or translucent leaves almost always indicate overwatering — the roots are starting to rot. Let the soil dry out completely, make sure the pot drains well, and drastically reduce watering frequency. Peperomia clearly prefers underwatering to excess moisture.

🌿 Large round shiny green leaves • 🎨 Compact and generous habit • ☀️ Indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🪴 Black striped ceramic pot included • 🐾 Non-toxic • 📏 H25 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop' is a compact tropical plant native to the humid forests of Ecuador and Peru. Its large, fleshy, shiny green raindrop-shaped leaves are its signature — round, thick, glossy, making it a particularly resilient and easy-care plant. Presented in a black striped ceramic pot included, the contrast between the shiny green and matte black creates a graphic and contemporary composition that is immediately elegant.
Non-toxic, compact, ready to display. Discover it in our Peperomia collection and in our easy non-toxic plants collection.
Which Peperomia variety to choose?
The Peperomia genus offers a remarkable diversity of shapes and textures — here are the varieties available in our catalog:
- Peperomia 'Raindrop' (this plant) — large round shiny green leaves, compact habit H25 cm. The most graphic and brightest version.
- Peperomia 'Raindrop' in natural woven basket — the same plant in a natural, bohemian container.
- Peperomia 'Burning Bush' — spectacular green and red foliage, compact habit. The colorful version.
- Peperomia caperata 'Rosso' — dark green embossed leaves on top, red underneath. The textured two-tone version.
- Peperomia 'Rana Verde' — light green wrinkled leaves, very compact habit. The miniature graphic version.
- Peperomia rotundifolia — tiny round leaves on trailing stems. The delicate trailing version.
Why choose the Raindrop? It is the variety with the largest and most graphic leaves — its round, shiny leaves create an immediate decorative effect that smaller Peperomias cannot replicate.
Exposure & placement
The Peperomia Raindrop prefers soft, indirect light — it evolved under the tropical canopy and dislikes direct sun exposure. Our light and humidity guide explains how to optimize its placement.
- Exposure: indirect light to partial shade — tolerates low light, avoid direct sun.
- Ideal: office, shelf, bedroom, bathroom, or low-light living room.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden changes.
- Substrate: light, rich, and well-drained — universal potting soil with perlite.
The black ceramic striped pot fits perfectly in modern, industrial, or minimalist interiors — it highlights the shiny green leaves even more by contrast.
Watering & care
Peperomia stores water in its fleshy leaves — it prefers to be slightly underwatered rather than overwatered. Check our watering guide to find the right rhythm.
- Watering: low — allow the substrate to dry deeply between waterings.
- Frequency: about every 2 weeks in spring-summer, once a month in winter.
- Drainage: essential — the striped pot is included.
- Humidity: prefers 50 to 70% humidity — mist occasionally.
- Fertilizer: every 6 to 8 weeks in spring-summer with diluted liquid fertilizer.
Overwatering is the main cause of death — stems rot quickly if the substrate remains soggy.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The contrast between the shiny green leaves and the matte black striped pot creates a graphic and contemporary composition — especially effective in interiors with neutral or dark tones.
- In combination: pair it with a Pilea peperomioides or a Maranta for a compact plant arrangement with contrasting round leaves.
- Pot included: the black striped ceramic pot is included — the set is ready to place with nothing to add.
- Atmosphere: perfect on a desk, shelf, or console — its compact size (H25 cm) allows it to fit anywhere.
Verdeia tips
- Water sparingly — Peperomia stores water in its fleshy leaves and tolerates temporary dryness well. Insert your finger 3 cm deep — if the substrate is still moist, wait longer. Overwatering causes stem and root rot that is hard to reverse.
- Wipe leaves regularly — the large shiny leaves of the Raindrop collect dust faster than small-leaf varieties. A monthly wipe with a damp cloth keeps their shine and optimizes photosynthesis.
- Tolerates low light — this is one of its great qualities. It can thrive away from windows, in dimly lit offices or bathrooms without direct light. However, direct sunlight quickly burns its leaves.
- Non-toxic — Peperomia poses no risk to cats, dogs, or children.
