Frequently Asked Questions
Why are my succulents growing upward? This is etiolation, a response to insufficient light that permanently loosens the rosettes.
How many succulents are needed for a table arrangement? Nine plants are enough for a grouped centerpiece, while eighteen allow you to distribute several focal points across a large surface.

🏺 Terracotta Pots included • 🌵 Assorted species • ☀️ Bright light • 💧 Very infrequent watering • 🐾 Non-toxic • 🔢 2 quantities to choose from
This assortment brings together miniature succulents already planted in Ø8.1 cm terracotta Pots, ready to display without repotting. Echeveria, Crassula, Haworthia, and Sedum come from the arid regions of South Africa, Central America, and Mexico and join the Cacti & succulents selection in the catalog.
The difference from succulents in Ø5.5 cm nursery Pots lies in the container: terracotta is porous, allowing the substrate to dry faster and reducing the risk of root rot. It also provides a matte ochre finish that eliminates the need for any decorative pot.
Light & placement
Succulents require as much bright light as possible. In insufficient light, the rosettes loosen, stretch upward, and lose their colorful tones in favor of a uniform pale green.
- Light: bright light to direct sun — south- or west-facing windowsill, without a sheer curtain.
- Placement: table, console, windowsill, or bright desk — also suitable for a sheltered terrace or balcony from June to September.
- Temperature: 18 to 30 °C during growth — a cool winter rest between 8 and 12 °C intensifies the colors.
- Soil type: very well-draining cactus potting mix, already in place in the delivered Pots.
The red, purple, and bluish tones of Echeveria and Sedum develop only in strong light: a plant placed in the shade turns completely green again within a few weeks.
Watering & care
Terracotta evaporates moisture through its sides, which slightly shortens the intervals between waterings compared with a plastic pot but greatly reduces the risk of rot. The well-draining substrate remains essential.
- Watering: very infrequent — every 2 weeks from April to September, pouring the water directly onto the substrate without wetting the rosettes.
- Winter: almost complete rest — water at most once a month, or not at all if the room is cool.
- Drainage: essential — never leave standing water beneath the Pots.
- Leaves: keep dry — water that collects in the center of a rosette causes it to rot within a few days.
- Fertilizer: cactus fertilizer diluted to half strength, once a month from May to August only.
- Repotting: unnecessary during the first year, as the delivered Pots are already the right size.
A whitish film sometimes appears on the terracotta over time: these are the mineral salts in the water migrating through the sides, with no consequences for the plant.
Decorating ideas & plant combinations
The matte ochre terracotta unifies the collection and highlights the variety of the rosettes. This is a ready-to-display format, requiring no handling or additional container.
- For a table centerpiece, group the nine Pots in a circle or line on a wooden tray — repeating the container brings out the differences in the foliage.
- To add interest to several areas of a room, the set of 18 allows you to arrange groups of three on a bookcase, windowsill, and desk — the same pot creates a visual thread.
- For textural contrast, pair them with assorted mini cacti — rigid ribs and fleshy leaves complement each other in a single arrangement.
- For a group gift, the set of 9 can be divided into three gifts of three Pots, each already presentable without additional packaging.
The terracotta darkens when it comes into contact with water and then lightens as it dries: the color of the pot provides an immediate indication of whether the substrate is still moist.
Verdeia tips
- Water the substrate, never the rosette: water trapped between the tightly packed leaves of an Echeveria causes crown rot within a few days. Pour through a narrow spout along the side of the pot.
- Propagate them from a single leaf: a leaf cleanly detached at the base, left to dry for three days and then placed on slightly moist substrate, will produce a new plant within a few weeks.
- Give them a cool, dry winter: kept for two to three months at 8 to 12 °C without watering, the rosettes tighten and develop their most intense colors the following spring.

Our Verdeia commitments
FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
