Frequently Asked Questions
Is it better to grow the Syngonium Golden on a stake or hanging? On a moss stake, it produces progressively larger and lobed leaves — hanging, it develops a very decorative trailing habit with cascading golden foliage.
How often should you water a Syngonium Golden? About once a week in summer and less frequently in winter, always letting the top 2 to 3 centimeters of soil dry out between waterings.

🌿 Lime green to bright golden yellow foliage • 🌤️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • ✨ Easy care • 📏 H30 cm | Pot Ø14 cm
The Syngonium Golden, also called Golden Arrow Plant, is a tropical plant with lime green to golden yellow arrow-shaped leaves that bring immediate plant brightness to any interior. Its foliage evolves with age — the young arrow-shaped leaves gradually become lobed as the plant grows, adding an extra graphic dimension.
Native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, its unique golden color — bright lime green to yellow — clearly sets it apart from other Syngoniums and makes it one of the brightest plants in our tropical selection. Its versatile habit — climbing on a stake or freely trailing — makes it a particularly adaptable plant.
Which Syngonium variety should you choose?
Each Syngonium has a distinct color — it’s the foliage that makes all the difference. Here’s how the Golden fits into the range:
- Syngonium Golden (this plant) — bright lime green to golden yellow foliage, climbing or trailing habit, H30 cm. The brightest in the range.
- Syngonium White Butterfly — white and green variegated foliage, H35 cm. The most elegant in light variegation.
- Syngonium Arrow — classic green foliage, climbing habit. The most understated and classic.
- Syngonium Red Heart — pink foliage with changing gradients, H30 cm. The softest and most romantic.
- Syngonium Pixie — compact variegated foliage, H20 cm. The smallest and easiest to fit in.
- Syngonium Neon — bright neon pink foliage, H25 cm. The most vibrant and modern.
- Syngonium Maria — coppery pink foliage, H25 cm. The most sophisticated in warm tones.
- Syngonium Mottled — green and white spotted foliage, H15 cm. The most graphic in a small size.
The Golden is the only Syngonium to offer this lime green to golden yellow color — a touch of warm plant light that no other variety in the range replicates.
Exposure & placement
The Syngonium Golden needs bright indirect light to maintain the intensity of its golden color — in insufficient light, the leaves gradually lose their yellow and turn a uniform green. To choose the best spot for your interior, check our guide on balancing light and humidity indoors.
- Ideal exposure: bright indirect light — east or north window, filtered windowsill, within 2 m of an exposed window.
- Tolerates: partial shade, filtered light.
- Avoid: direct sun that burns and discolors delicate leaves.
- Temperature: 18–27 °C, no drafts or sudden changes.
- Substrate: light and draining — universal potting soil with perlite.
Each plant is unique: the intensity of the golden color naturally varies depending on the light received and the season.
Watering & care
The Syngonium Golden prefers a slightly moist substrate without ever being waterlogged. Use the finger test method: water only when the top 2 to 3 centimeters of substrate are dry.
- Watering: moderate — let the top 2–3 cm dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer; reduce in winter.
- Water: water at room temperature.
- Humidity: mist regularly or group with other plants to create a humid microclimate.
- Drainage: essential — pot must have drainage holes, saucer emptied after watering.
- Fertilizer: liquid fertilizer for green plants, once a month in spring-summer.
Each plant is unique: watering frequency naturally varies depending on pot size, ambient temperature, and season.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The lime green to golden yellow foliage of the Syngonium Golden is one of the brightest in the catalog — it acts as a point of light in a plant composition without needing flowers. To design around it, find our ideas to create a tropical atmosphere.
- In strong contrast: pair it with a Philodendron or an Alocasia with dark green foliage — the golden of the Golden creates an immediate and bright chromatic contrast that visually structures the arrangement.
- On a shelf or desk: its compact H30 cm size fits easily into any space — slip it into a Jazz amber yellow decorative pot for a warm tonal harmony that enhances the golden color of the foliage.
- In a warm tone duo: pair it with a Calathea with variegated leaves — the bright golden of the Golden contrasts with the dark graphic patterns of the Calathea for a very decorative tropical duo.
- Trailing hanging: left free without a support, it displays very decorative golden foliage stems — place it in a natural Selin basket whose blonde fiber naturally harmonizes with the golden foliage.
Verdeia tips
- Prune overly long stems to thicken: the Syngonium Golden grows quickly — regular tip pruning encourages branching and maintains a compact, bushy habit much more decorative than a single long stem.
- Install a moss pole for larger leaves: climbing on a moist support, the Syngonium produces progressively larger and lobed leaves — the contrast with the young arrow-shaped leaves is very decorative.
- Choose its final location upon receipt: like most Syngoniums, it does not like to be moved frequently — set it up once and let it acclimate before judging its vigor.
