Begonia maculata ‘Wightii’ — Ø12 cm — H20 cm
🌤️ Indirect light • 🌿 Unique spotted foliage • 💧 Moderate watering • 🏙️ Graphic and tropical plant
The Begonia maculata ‘Wightii’ is a true icon of green interiors. With its large dark green leaves dotted with silver spots and its deep red underside, it offers a spectacular and refined contrast.
Native to the tropical forests of Brazil, this begonia brings an artistic and lively touch to any urban space. Its asymmetrical silhouette and spotted foliage make it a plant with character, ideal for adding personality to a shelf or a bright desk.
Exposure & location
The Begonia maculata appreciates bright but filtered light, without direct sun that would burn its delicate leaves. It thrives in bright rooms, sheltered from direct rays, such as on a console, an east- or north-facing windowsill, or a well-lit bookshelf.
- Exposure: bright indirect light, avoid direct sun.
- Ideal: living room, bedroom, office, or reading nook.
- Temperature: between 18 and 25 °C, without drafts.
- Substrate: light, draining, and rich (green plant potting soil + perlite).
Verdeia tip: to stimulate dense foliage, regularly turn the pot and pinch back overly long stems in spring.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate; let the substrate dry 2–3 cm between waterings.
- Drainage: essential to avoid root rot.
- Humidity: prefers a slightly humid atmosphere; mist lightly in summer.
- Pruning: remove yellowed leaves to encourage new growth.
- Fertilizer: in spring and summer, every 4 weeks with a mild green plant fertilizer.
Avoid overwatering: regular but measured watering is enough to keep the foliage vibrant.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Graphic and elegant, the Begonia maculata ‘Wightii’ fits perfectly into contemporary or bohemian decor. Its speckled foliage creates a beautiful visual dynamic, especially when paired with plants with contrasting textures.
- To pair with: Calathea, Pilea, or Fittonia for a textured tropical effect.
- Ideal pot: matte white ceramic, terracotta, or gray to enhance its colors.
- Ambiance: perfect for a shelf, reading corner, or bright windowsill.
Its light silhouette adds movement to a plant arrangement without weighing down the space.
Verdeia tips
- Water only when the soil starts to dry on the surface.
- Avoid spraying the leaves to prevent marking their silver spots.
- Place it in light without direct sun to preserve its color contrast.
- Light fertilization in spring to support growth without excess.
- Perfect to add an artistic and tropical touch to your urban interior.
Each plant is unique: the density, shape, and shades of the foliage naturally evolve according to light and seasons.

How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
