Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Kalanchoe be placed on the balcony in summer? Yes — it enjoys warmth and full summer sun, but bring it inside as soon as temperatures drop below 15 °C because it does not tolerate cold.
Why is my Kalanchoe no longer blooming? Lack of light or no winter rest period are the most common causes — place it in a sunnier spot and reduce watering in winter to trigger new flowering.

🌸 Bright red blooms • 🌿 Fleshy foliage • ☀️ Bright indoors / Sun • 💧 Low watering • 📏 H27 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Kalanchoe 'Rosalina Don Justino', also known as Flame Flower, is a generously flowering succulent native to Madagascar - its clusters of small, vivid red flowers brighten interiors for several weeks. Its fleshy foliage stores the water and allows it to withstand missed waterings without damage. Pair it with flowering plants and cacti and succulents.
Compact and colorful, it adds a cheerful, sunny touch to a desk, coffee table, or windowsill.
Light & placement
Kalanchoe Rosalina Don Justino loves very bright locations and tolerates a few hours of direct sun - it is one of the few flowering succulents to truly thrive in full indoor sun. Our flowering calendar shows you how to make it bloom again season after season.
- Light: full sun or very bright indoor light - a south- or west-facing window is ideal.
- Ideal for: sunny windowsills, desks, bright coffee tables.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, protect from cold and drafts.
- Substrate: well-draining - potting mix for succulents.
Watering & care
- Watering: low - water only when the substrate is completely dry. Standing water is the main cause of Kalanchoe loss.
- Drainage: essential - use a pot with drainage holes and a layer of clay pebbles at the bottom.
- Fertilizer: every 3 weeks during flowering, using fertilizer for flowering plants.
- Pruning: pinch the stems after flowering to encourage branching and prepare for the next bloom.
- Winter dormancy: significantly reduce watering in winter, as with all indoor plants in winter.
Decorating ideas & plant pairings
Its bright red flowers make it a striking accent plant - it works particularly well placed in the middle of a group of succulents with neutral green foliage that lets its color take center stage.
- In a succulent arrangement: pair it with a Crassula tenelli and an Aloe vera - three succulents, three different forms, the same watering needs, and a cohesive, effortless arrangement.
- In a Kalanchoe duo: combine it with the pink Kalanchoe - the same variety, two complementary colors, and an instantly polished display.
- Decorative pot: a terracotta or white ceramic pot highlights the vivid red flowers without competing with them - avoid warm tones that blend into the flower color.
Verdeia tips
- Remove faded flowers: remove flower stalks as soon as they lose their vibrancy - this encourages new stems and extends the overall flowering period.
- Give it maximum light: the more sun it receives, the more abundant and long-lasting the flowering - this is the most important factor for this Kalanchoe.
- Keep it dry in winter: drastically reduce watering from November to February - a short dormant period in dry, cool conditions (15–17 °C) triggers spectacular new flowering in spring.
