Frequently Asked Questions
Should I remove fully white leaves? Yes — a leaf without chlorophyll cannot photosynthesize and weakens the plant by using its reserves without contributing to growth. Remove it cleanly at the base of the petiole as soon as it appears.
How do I care for a moss pole? Keep it regularly moist with a spray bottle — a damp moss pole encourages aerial roots to cling to it and stimulates the production of large, well-developed leaves. This is the most effective way to maintain the vigor of an XXL climbing plant.

🌿 Unique green and cream white variegated foliage • 🪵 Moss stake included • ☀️ Moderate indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 📏 H125 cm | Pot Ø24 cm • 🌬️ Air-purifying • ⚠️ Toxic to pets
The Epipremnum Pinnatum 'Albo Variegata' is a highly sought-after collector's plant — its large elongated leaves variegated with cream white and deep green create spectacular foliage, unique to each leaf. This XXL H125 cm size comes with its integrated moss stake on which the plant naturally climbs. Air-purifying, easy to care for.
Note: toxic to pets. Discover it in our collector plants selection.
Which Epipremnum variety to choose?
The Epipremnum genus comes in a wide variety of variegations and sizes:
- Epipremnum Pinnatum 'Albo Variegata' (this plant) — cream white and green variegation, large elongated leaves, XXL size on a stake. The rarest and most sought-after.
- Epipremnum Pinnatum on moss stake — green foliage, fenestrated leaves with age, XXL size. The classic green version.
- Epipremnum Golden Pothos — green and golden yellow variegated foliage, trailing habit. The brightest.
- Epipremnum Marble Queen — white and green marbled variegation, compact size. The most graphic in a small format.
- Epipremnum Pinnatum Cebu Blue — metallic silvery blue foliage, trailing habit. The most original because of its color.
The Albo Variegata is a collector's plant with variable variegation — each leaf is unique. The more extensive the variegation, the more sought-after and rare the plant. Discover it in our XXL large plants selection.
Exposure & location
- Ideal exposure: moderate to bright indirect light — near a window without direct sunlight.
- Variegation: the brighter the light (without direct sun), the more pronounced the white variegation. In too much shade, new leaves tend to turn green again.
- Avoid: direct sunlight that burns the very sensitive white areas, deep shade.
- Temperature: 18–27 °C, no drafts.
- Space: its height of 125 cm requires a clear spot with enough vertical space — allow at least 130 cm of free height.
The white areas of the variegation lack chlorophyll — they are more sensitive to direct sunlight than the green areas. A spot with bright indirect light preserves both the variegation and the leaves. See our light and humidity guide to find the right location.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the top 2-3 cm of soil dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring and summer, every 2 weeks in winter.
- Moss stake: regularly mist the stake with a spray bottle — this encourages aerial roots to cling to it and stimulates more vigorous growth.
- Drainage: pot must have drainage holes.
- Fertilizer: diluted liquid green plant fertilizer, once a month in spring and summer.
Regularly misting the moss stake is the most effective way to maintain vigorous growth and large, well-developed leaves. Check out our complete watering guide to adjust the frequency.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
Its XXL size and spectacular variegated foliage make it a statement plant that immediately structures a space.
- Alone as a centerpiece: placed in a bright corner of a living room or entryway, it creates a strong, graphic plant presence — its two-tone foliage is visible from afar.
- In a tropical arrangement: pair it with a Monstera deliciosa for a climbing tropical duo with contrasting foliage — fenestration versus variegation.
- Ideal pot: matte black or anthracite ceramic — dark tones highlight the cream-white variegation without competing with it.
Its variegation changes over time — new leaves may have more or less white depending on light and season. This living, unpredictable character is what makes variegated collector plants so charming.
Verdeia advice
- Variegation is random and unique — each leaf has its own pattern of white and green. This is the very nature of this collector's plant — no two specimens look alike.
- Remove fully white leaves — a leaf without chlorophyll cannot photosynthesize. If a leaf turns completely white, remove it to avoid weakening the plant.
- Moisten the moss stake — this is the key step to care for this XXL size. A moist stake encourages aerial roots and keeps the plant vigorous. Check our spring preparation guide for essential seasonal care tips.
- ⚠️ Toxic to pets — contains calcium oxalate crystals. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs. See our plants and pets guide for suitable alternatives.
