Frequently Asked Questions
How to care for a natural woven basket with a plant? Always empty the basket after each watering — standing water causes root rot and damages the natural fibers. Avoid wetting the basket directly. If moisture persists, remove the pot from the basket for a few hours to let it dry.
Is a stake necessary for a Monstera deliciosa? Not mandatory but highly recommended. Monstera is naturally climbing — a moist moss stake allows aerial roots to cling and encourages the growth of large, deeply cut leaves. Without a stake, the plant spreads horizontally and the leaves remain smaller.

🌿 Iconic large cut leaves • 🌴 Palm leaf woven basket included • ☀️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 📏 H60 cm | Pot Ø21 cm • ⚠️ Toxic to pets
The Monstera deliciosa, or Swiss Cheese Plant, is the quintessential tropical plant — its large, glossy dark green cut leaves are unmistakable. This product comes ready to display in its handwoven basket made of natural palm leaves, with artisanal weaving and warm beige tones. H60 cm | Pot Ø21 cm.
Air-purifying, vigorous growth, tolerates partial shade. Note: toxic to pets. Discover it in our large indoor plants selection.
Which Monstera variety to choose?
The Monstera genus comes in several varieties with very distinct foliage:
- Monstera deliciosa (this plant) — iconic large cut leaves, vigorous growth, H60 cm | Pot Ø21 cm. The most classic and imposing.
- Monstera adansonii — smaller, elongated perforated leaves, trailing habit. The lightest and most airy.
- Monstera Thai Constellation — cream and green variegated foliage, rare collector’s plant. The most sought-after.
- Rhaphidophora tetrasperma — compact cut leaves, fast growth. The most climbing.
The Monstera deliciosa is the ideal choice for a first large tropical plant — sturdy, tolerant, and with instantly recognizable foliage. Check out our Philodendron or Monstera guide to refine your choice.
The palm leaf basket — included
This product comes with its basket, handwoven from dried natural palm leaves — a container in warm beige tones with a dense weave, adding a natural and artisanal touch to the arrangement.
- Material: woven natural palm leaves.
- Color: warm natural beige.
- Style: artisanal, bohemian, natural.
This basket can be reused as a decorative pot for other plants once the Monstera is repotted into a larger pot.
Exposure & placement
- Ideal exposure : bright indirect light — near a window without direct sun.
- Tolerates : light partial shade, but leaves develop less and cuts are less pronounced.
- Avoid : direct sunlight that burns the leaves, too deep shade.
- Temperature : 18–27 °C.
- Space : allow space around — the Monstera spreads widely over time.
The brighter the light, the more the leaves will develop large characteristic cuts — light triggers fenestration. Check out our light and humidity guide to find the best spot.
Watering & care
- Watering : moderate — let the top 2-3 cm of soil dry out between waterings.
- Frequency : about once a week in spring and summer, every 2 weeks in winter.
- Drainage : pot with drainage holes required — empty the decorative pot after watering.
- Humidity : mist occasionally or wipe the large leaves with a damp cloth.
- Fertilizer : diluted liquid green plant fertilizer, once a month in spring and summer.
Regularly wipe the large leaves with a damp cloth — they collect dust that reduces photosynthesis and dulls their characteristic shine. Check out our complete watering guide to adjust the frequency.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The Monstera deliciosa and palmleaf basket duo creates a tropical and artisanal composition that feels instantly warm.
- As a centerpiece plant : placed in a bright corner of a living room or entryway, it alone creates an urban jungle atmosphere.
- In arrangement : pair it with a Monstera adansonii for a duo of Monsteras with complementary foliage — large and small fenestration.
- Style : natural, bohemian, tropical — the palmleaf basket pairs especially well with interiors featuring natural materials, wood, rattan, linen.
Turn the pot a quarter turn every 2-3 weeks for even growth — Monstera orients its leaves toward the light and can become asymmetrical without regular rotation.
Verdeia tips
- Leaves without cuts are normal at first — young Monstera leaves are whole. The characteristic cuts gradually appear with growth and sufficient light.
- Install a moss stake — Monstera is naturally climbing. A moist moss stake allows aerial roots to cling and encourages the production of large, deeply cut leaves. See our spring preparation guide for essential seasonal care tips.
- Empty the decorative pot after watering — standing water in the pot causes root rot and damages the natural fibers of the weaving.
- ⚠️ Toxic to pets — contains calcium oxalate crystals. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs. See our plants and pets guide for suitable alternatives.
