Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Monstera adansonii have few holes in the jar? The holes develop with maturity and good indirect light. If new leaves come out without holes, move the jar closer to a window. Very young leaves are always whole — the holes appear at a certain stage of maturity.
Is this Monstera Syngonium pair toxic to pets? Yes, both plants contain irritating calcium oxalates and are toxic if ingested by dogs and cats. Keep this pair out of reach of your pets.

🌿 Tropical duo in hydroponics • 🕳️ Perforated leaves + arrow-shaped leaves • 💧 Ultra-easy care • 🪴 Glass jar included • 📏 H30 cm | Jar Ø12 cm • ⚠️ Toxic to pets
This duo brings together two trailing tropical plants with complementary foliage in a glass jar: the Monstera adansonii ("Monkey Leaf") with small graphic perforated leaves, and the Syngonium Green ("Goosefoot") with bright light green arrow-shaped leaves. Grown hydroponically, their roots are directly immersed in water — visible through the clear glass.
Minimal care, immediate graphic impact, ready to place with nothing to add. Placed high on a shelf, the two plants will gradually cascade down. Discover them in our collection of plants in jars and vases and our selection of ready-to-gift plants.
Which hydroponic duo to choose?
Three glass jar duos are available in our catalog — each offers a different foliage contrast:
- Monstera adansonii/Syngonium Green Duo (this product) — two trailing plants with complementary green foliage. The most airy and light.
- Monstera adansonii/Clusia Duo — graphic perforated leaves + round fleshy leaves. The most contrasting.
- Clusia/Syngonium Green Duo — fleshy leaves + delicate arrow-shaped foliage. The most balanced and classic.
This duo is the only one to combine two trailing plants — placed high on a shelf, the stems of both plants will gradually lengthen and create a natural cascading greenery effect.
Exposure & location
This duo adapts to many spaces — light mainly affects growth speed and the density of Monstera perforations.
- Ideal exposure: moderate to bright indirect light — east- or west-facing window, desk near a window.
- Avoid: direct sunlight that burns leaves and warms the water, encouraging algae growth.
- Temperature: 18–26 °C, no cold drafts or direct heat sources.
- Humidity: prefers 50–70% humidity — occasionally mist the foliage in dry air.
Monstera develops more holes with good indirect light. If new leaves emerge without holes, move the jar closer to a window.
Hydroponic care
- Water level: keep the water halfway up the jar — roots submerged, stems above water.
- Check: monitor the water level every 2 weeks and top up with room temperature water.
- Water change: every 2–3 months — empty, rinse the jar and roots, then refill with fresh water.
- Water quality: use filtered or rested water for 24 hours — limescale builds up on the walls and roots.
- Fertilizer: a few drops of diluted liquid fertilizer once a month in spring and summer.
- Pruning: trim any overly long stems — Monstera and Syngonium cuttings root easily in a new water jar.
If green algae appear on the walls, move the jar away from direct light and clean the walls during the next water change.
Decor ideas & combinations
Two trailing plants in the same jar — placed up high, this duo creates a gradual cascading plant effect that evolves each week.
- On a high shelf: the stems of both plants will naturally lengthen downward, framing the jar with a curtain of complementary green foliage.
- In a plant gallery: pair it with other hydroponic arrangements from our jars and vases collection to create a cohesive set.
- As a gift: ready to display, no repotting or accessories needed, it makes a unique plant gift for a housewarming or birthday.
The roots visible in the glass grow and branch out over time — an evolving display that changes week by week.
Verdeia advice
- Change the water regularly — this is rule number one — at least every 2–3 months. The buildup of minerals and organic waste eventually harms the roots without any immediate visible signs.
- Brown roots: act quickly — remove damaged roots with clean scissors, rinse thoroughly, and completely change the water. Quick action saves the plant.
- Necks must never be submerged — keep the water level below the base of the stems. A neck constantly in water will rot the plant within weeks.
- Propagate easily — cut a Monstera or Syngonium stem with 2–3 nodes and place it in a glass of water. It roots in 2–3 weeks without special care.
- Acclimate upon delivery — 48 hours in a temperate room before placing in the final location. See our new plant welcome guide for a good start.
- ⚠️ Toxic to pets — both Monstera adansonii and Syngonium contain irritating calcium oxalates. Keep this duo out of reach of cats and dogs. See our plants and pets guide for suitable alternatives.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
