🌿 Large round shiny green leaves • 🎨 Compact and generous habit • ☀️ Indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🪴 Natural woven basket included • 🐾 Non-toxic • 📏 H25 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop' is a compact tropical plant native to the humid forests of Ecuador and Peru, where it grows under the canopy in soft filtered light. Its large, fleshy, water-drop-shaped shiny green leaves are its signature — round, thick, glossy, they store moisture and make it a particularly resilient and easy-care plant.
Non-toxic, compact, ready to display in its natural fiber woven basket with chevron edge included. Discover it in our Peperomia collection and in our easy non-toxic plants collection.
Which Peperomia variety to choose?
The Peperomia genus offers a remarkable diversity of shapes and textures — here are the varieties available in our catalog:
- Peperomia 'Raindrop' (this plant) — large round shiny green leaves, compact habit H25 cm. The most graphic and brightest version.
- Peperomia 'Raindrop' in matte black ceramic — the same plant in a more graphic and contemporary container.
- Peperomia 'Burning Bush' — spectacular green and red foliage, compact habit. The colorful version.
- Peperomia caperata 'Rosso' — dark green embossed leaves on top, red underneath. The textured bicolor version.
- Peperomia 'Rana Verde' — light green wrinkled leaves, very compact habit. The miniature graphic version.
- Peperomia rotundifolia — tiny round leaves on trailing stems. The delicate trailing version.
Why choose the Raindrop? It is the variety with the largest and most graphic leaves — its round, shiny leaves create an immediate decorative effect that smaller Peperomia varieties do not replicate.
Exposure & placement
The Peperomia Raindrop prefers soft, indirect light — it evolved under the tropical canopy and dislikes direct sun exposure. Our light and humidity guide explains how to find the right balance.
- Exposure: indirect light — no direct sun, tolerates partial shade well.
- Ideal: shelf, console table, desk, reading nook, or bright bathroom.
- Temperature: 18 to 26 °C, protected from cold drafts.
- Substrate: light, well-draining potting mix — a blend of green plant soil and perlite.
Place it 1 to 2 m from a window in a bright spot but never in direct sun — its leaves will be rounder, denser, and shinier in this setting.
Watering & care
Its fleshy leaves store moisture — this is its main protection against drought. Overwatering is its only real danger. Check our watering guide to find the right rhythm.
- Watering: moderate — let 1 to 2 cm of substrate dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about once a week in summer, 2 to 3 times a month in winter.
- Drainage: essential to prevent yellowing or softening of the foliage.
- Fertilizer: very light, every 4 to 6 weeks in spring and summer.
- Misting: unnecessary — its fleshy leaves already store moisture.
If the leaves become slightly soft, water lightly and wait — the Raindrop recovers quickly within a few hours.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its round, shiny leaves create a natural graphic contrast with finer or textured foliage — an accent plant that fits naturally into any arrangement.
- In combination: pair it with a Pilea peperomioides for a complementary duo of round plants, or with a Maranta fascinator for a contrast of textures with similar soft light needs.
- Included basket: the natural fiber woven basket with chevron edge is included — the set is ready to display without adding anything.
- Atmosphere: perfect on a high shelf to highlight the round, shiny shape of the leaves — placed slightly elevated, the decorative effect is immediately stronger.
Verdeia tips
- Overwatering is its only real danger — its thick leaves store moisture and allow it to tolerate several weeks without watering. However, constantly wet soil causes root rot and stem softening. Always wait until the top few centimeters are dry before watering.
- Clean the leaves regularly — their smooth, shiny surface shows dust more visibly than matte leaves. Wiping with a damp cloth once a month is enough to maintain their shine and optimize photosynthesis.
- Protect the basket from moisture — the natural fiber woven basket is decorative, not waterproof. Place a waterproof saucer inside if needed to prevent moisture from damaging the fibers over time.
- Non-toxic — Peperomia polybotrya poses no risk to cats, dogs, or children.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
