Frequently Asked Questions
How to overwinter a potted fig tree on a balcony? Wrap the pot in a winter cloth or bring it inside a cold veranda — once well established, it tolerates down to -10 °C, but in the first years it is more vulnerable and needs protection.
Should you prune a dwarf fig tree in a pot? Light pruning after fruiting is enough to maintain a compact shape — avoid heavy pruning that reduces fig production the following year.

🍈 Edible purple figs • 🍃 Ornamental deeply lobed foliage • 🌞 Full sun • 🌿 Organic cultivation • 🌳 Compact and productive • 📏 H50 cm | Pot Ø23 cm
The Ficus carica 'Little Miss Figgy' is an organic dwarf fig tree with a dense and harmonious silhouette. Its deeply lobed fresh green leaves and edible purple figs make it both a decorative and delicious plant — the ideal dwarf fig tree for a south-facing terrace or balcony. Compact, hardy, and productive.
Discover it in our Mediterranean garden collection and in our balcony and terrace selection.
Exposure & Location
'Little Miss Figgy' is a full sun plant — the more heat and direct light it receives, the more generous the fruiting and the sweeter the figs.
- Exposure: full sun, sheltered from cold wind.
- Ideal: south-facing terrace or balcony, preferably against a light-colored wall that reflects heat.
- Hardiness: tolerates down to -10 °C once well established.
- Winter care: protect or bring indoors to a conservatory in cold climates during the first years.
Place it near a light-colored south-facing wall — thermal reflection speeds up fig ripening and improves their sugar content.
Watering & Care
In a pot, the fig tree needs regular watering during the growing season — the potting substrate dries out much faster than ground soil. Check our watering guide to find the right rhythm.
- Watering: regular — water as soon as the substrate surface is dry, more often in hot weather.
- Drainage: essential — avoid roots sitting in water.
- Fertilizer: organic or compost every 3 to 4 weeks from April to September.
- Pruning: light pruning after fruiting to maintain compact shape — avoid heavy pruning.
Add compost in spring to stimulate fruiting — potted fig trees deplete nutrients faster than those in the ground and need regular feeding.
Decor Ideas & Plant Combinations
With its graphic lobed foliage and purple figs, it immediately evokes a southern atmosphere — a plant that transforms a terrace into a Mediterranean garden.
- In combination: pair it with a Mediterranean olive tree or a Vitis Johanniter for a Mediterranean fruit plant composition in pots — same needs for full sun and warmth.
- Ideal pot: large terracotta or textured ceramic pot — natural materials match the Mediterranean aesthetic and promote drainage. Our pot selection guide helps you find the right container.

Verdeia Tips
- Choose a wide and deep pot — the fig tree develops a vigorous root system. A pot at least Ø30 cm and 35 cm deep will allow good root development and more abundant fruiting — the bigger the pot, the more generous the fig production.
- Protect it from frost during the first years — although hardy down to -10 °C once established, a young potted fig tree is more vulnerable. Wrap the pot in a winter fleece or bring it into a cold conservatory during the first two seasons.
- Mulch the top of the pot in summer — a 3 to 5 cm layer of organic mulch on the substrate surface limits evaporation, reduces watering frequency, and keeps roots cool during hot summer weather.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
