Frequently Asked Questions

💧 Soil-free hydroponic cultivation • 🌿 Clusia + Syngonium Green • ✨ Glass vases included • 📏 H30 cm | Vases Ø12 cm • 🎁 Ideal gift • ⚠️ Toxic to pets
This duo of hydroponic plants brings together two tropical plants with contrasting foliage in their glass vases: Clusia with glossy, fleshy dark green leaves and Syngonium Green with delicate arrow-shaped foliage. Grown without soil, their roots are immersed directly in the water — visible through the transparent glass, it becomes a decorative element in its own right.
Minimal maintenance, an instantly graphic look, ready to display with nothing else needed. Ideal for an office, a shelf, or as an original plant gift. A lovely choice among our plants in vases and jars and plants ready to gift.
Which hydroponic duo should you choose?
Three glass-vase duos are available in our catalog — each offers a different foliage contrast:
- Duo Clusia/Syngonium Green (this product) — glossy, fleshy green leaves + delicate arrow-shaped foliage. The most balanced and classic.
- Duo Monstera adansonii/Clusia — graphic perforated leaves + robust Clusia. The most contrasting and graphic.
- Duo Monstera adansonii/Syngonium Green — perforated leaves + arrow-shaped foliage. The most airy and lightweight.
Clusia brings strength and volume, while Syngonium adds lightness and delicacy — a natural complementarity that works well together.
Light & placement
The Clusia/Syngonium Duo thrives in moderate indirect light. Direct sun is doubly discouraged — it burns the Syngonium's leaves and encourages algae formation in the water.
- Ideal exposure: bright to moderate indirect light — an east- or west-facing window, or a desk near a window.
- Avoid: prolonged direct sun that heats the water, encourages algae, and burns the Syngonium's delicate leaves.
- Temperature: 18–25 °C, without sudden fluctuations or drafts.
- Humidity: thrives in 50–70% ambient humidity — mist the foliage occasionally in dry conditions.
If green algae appear on the glass, this indicates that the vases are receiving too much direct light. Move them slightly farther from the window.
Hydroponic Care
- Water level: keep the water halfway up the vase - the roots should be submerged, but not the plant's crown.
- Check: check the level every week and top up with room-temperature water when it drops.
- Water change: every 2–3 weeks - empty the vase completely, gently rinse the vase and roots, then refill with fresh water.
- Water quality: use filtered water or water that has been left to stand for 24 hours - limescale can build up on the sides and roots.
- Fertilizer: add a few drops of diluted liquid fertilizer once a month in spring and summer to stimulate growth.
- Algae: if algae appear on the sides, clean them with a soft sponge when changing the water.
Hydroponic growing simplifies care down to the essentials - no soil, no repotting. The transparent glass lets you check the water level and the condition of the roots at a glance.
Decor Ideas & Pairings
The transparent glass and visible roots make the Duo Clusia/Syngonium a decorative composition in its own right - not just two plants in pots.
- Placed side by side on a shelf: the two vases create a cohesive, graphic botanical diptych. Vary the heights by placing them on different stands for added dynamism.
- In an arrangement with other glass plants: pair them with other sizes from our hydroponic collection to create a modern botanical gallery on a shelf or windowsill.
- As a gift: ready to display, with no soil or repotting required, they make an original, hassle-free plant gift for a move, a birthday, or a new office start.
Roots that grow in water become decorative in their own right over time - a living display that changes every week.
Verdeia Tips
- Change the water regularly - it's the number-one rule - stagnant water encourages root rot and algae growth. Every 2–3 weeks, always empty and rinse the vase, even if the water still looks clean.
- Brown or soft roots: act quickly - this is a sign of the beginning of root rot. Immediately remove the damaged roots with clean scissors, rinse thoroughly, and change the water completely. Prompt action can save the plant.
- The crown must never be submerged - the water level should cover the roots without touching the base of the stems. A crown that is constantly in water will cause the plant to rot within a few weeks.
- Acclimatize the plants upon delivery - leave them in a temperate room for 48 hours before placing them in their final location. The first few days matter: a few simple steps can help you welcome a new plant.
- ⚠️ Toxic to animals - Clusia rosea and Syngonium both contain irritating compounds that are toxic if ingested by dogs and cats. Keep them out of animals' reach. In a household with pets, it is better to choose from the plants and animals that are compatible.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
