Frequently Asked Questions
Can you propagate Epipremnum 'N'Joy' cuttings while keeping the variegation? Yes, by choosing cuttings with nodes from well-variegated stems — new shoots usually reproduce the same level of variegation as the parent stem under good light conditions.
Why are the leaves of my Epipremnum 'N'Joy' turning green again? The greening of white variegation is almost always due to a lack of light — move the plant closer to a bright indirect light source and cut off fully green leaves to encourage new well-variegated growth.

🌿 Dark green and cream white variegation • ☀️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌱 Very easy
Native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, Epipremnum aureum 'N'Joy' is a natural mutation of the classic Pothos selected for its large irregular cream white variegation on a dark green background — each leaf is different, making every plant absolutely unique. Like all Pothos, it can climb a support or trail freely, among the most graphic in our collection of climbing and trailing plants and our easy-care plants.
Which Pothos variety to choose?
The Epipremnum genus includes several varieties with very different foliage — here’s how 'N'Joy' compares among them:
- Epipremnum aureum 'N'Joy' (this plant) — heart-shaped leaves variegated dark green and cream white with well-defined zones, climbing or trailing habit (H25 cm | Pot Ø12 cm). The most contrasting and graphic variegated version.
- Epipremnum aureum — Golden Pothos — bright green leaves marbled with cream yellow, generous habit, 5 sizes. The most classic and generous version.
- Epipremnum 'Marble Queen' — cream white and green variegated leaves with more diffuse marbled zones. The brightest version.
- Epipremnum 'Happy Leaf' — leaves splashed with irregular yellow on a green background. The most colorful version.
- Scindapsus pictus 'Trebie' — dark green leaves speckled with matte silver, trailing habit. The velvety silver version.
Light & location
- Light: bright indirect to bright partial shade — the brighter the light, the more stable and vibrant the white variegation. In shade, leaves gradually turn green and lose contrast.
- Ideal: bright living room, office, high shelf, or hanging near an East or West-facing window.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden changes.
- Substrate: light, airy, and well-drained — potting soil for green plants mixed with perlite.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the top 2 to 3 cm of substrate dry out between waterings. Epipremnum 'N'Joy' tolerates missed waterings — mastering watering remains key for dense, vigorous foliage.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer, reduced in winter.
- Drainage: essential — pot with drainage hole and saucer.
- Humidity: adapts to dry to medium humidity — tolerates dry air well.
- Fertilizer: every 2 to 3 weeks in spring-summer, diluted liquid fertilizer.
- Pruning: cut leaves that have fully turned green to encourage new well-variegated growth.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
- Foliage contrast: pair it with a Golden Pothos and a Scindapsus pictus 'Trebie' — green and yellow / cream white / matte silver: three varieties from the same group, three totally different palettes for a coherent and very graphic composition.
- On a support: trained on a moss pole, its variegated leaves grow larger and denser — the white and green zones gain definition as the plant matures.
- Ideal pot: matte black or anthracite ceramic for maximum contrast with the cream white foliage — avoid white pots that blend with the variegated areas and erase contrast.
Verdeia tips
- Keep bright light to preserve variegation: this is the main condition for the cream white to remain stable — if new leaves gradually turn green, move the plant closer to a source of bright indirect light.
- Propagate easily: cut a stem with at least one node and place it in a glass of water — propagating plants by cuttings is especially simple with this species, which roots in 1 to 2 weeks. Preferably choose well-variegated cuttings to reproduce the same graphic foliage.
- Rotate the pot every two weeks: Epipremnum orients its leaves toward the light — regular rotation ensures a balanced and even silhouette from all sides.
