Syringa 'Violet Uprising' is an exceptional lilac: it blooms first in spring, then again in summer. This feature — called remontance — is rare among lilacs, which usually offer only one flowering period of a few weeks in May. With Violet Uprising, the sweet fragrance and soft lilac-pink panicles return until the end of summer, extending the season by several months.
Originating from East Asia, this pubescent lilac remains compact (1.5 to 2 m adult), making it one of the few lilacs truly suited for balconies and small gardens. Honey plant, very fragrant, hardy down to -25 °C, it naturally belongs among symbolic plants to give as gifts: lilac traditionally evokes first feelings and the return of spring.

Violet Uprising blooms better when it receives sun: a warm and bright location is essential for generous flowering, especially for the summer remontance. It tolerates bright partial shade but blooms less there. Very hardy, it withstands temperatures down to -25 °C and survives winter without any protection, both in pot and in the ground.
