Frequently asked questions
Why are the edges of my Aglaonema Greenlight’s leaves turning brown? Brown edges are almost always caused by tap water hardness or air that is too dry — use filtered water and regularly mist the foliage.
How often should I water an Aglaonema Greenlight in winter? In winter, water no more than once every two weeks — in low light the soil dries much more slowly and the risk of overwatering is high.

🌿 Bright light-green foliage • 🌑 Tolerates low light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌱 Easy to care for • 📏 H60 cm | Pot Ø17 cm
The Aglaonema Greenlight, also known as the Chinese evergreen, stands out from other Aglaonemas with its bright light-green foliage featuring contrasting dark-green patterns — a particularly effective variety for bringing visual freshness to dimly lit rooms. Native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, it shares the exceptional resilience of all Aglaonemas. Pair it with other Aglaonemas.
Its tolerance for low light makes it an ideal choice for windowless offices, hallways, and dimly lit bedrooms. A reliable choice among plants for dark rooms.
Light & placement
The Aglaonema Greenlight thrives in medium to low indirect light — it is one of the indoor plants most tolerant of difficult conditions. Direct sun burns its leaves and dulls its light-green color.
- Light: medium to low indirect light, partial shade — tolerates shade, avoid direct sun.
- Ideal for: dimly lit rooms, offices, bedrooms, bathrooms, entryways.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, without sudden fluctuations.
- Substrate: light, well-draining, and rich — potting soil for green plants with perlite.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the surface of the substrate dry slightly between waterings. Use room-temperature, low-limescale water — limescale causes brown edges on the leaves. This simple watering routine makes it an ideal plant for beginners.
- Frequency: once a week in spring and summer, reduce in autumn and winter.
- Humidity: mist the foliage regularly or place the pot on a tray of moist clay pebbles.
- Fertilizer: once a month from April to September, using liquid fertilizer for green plants diluted to half strength.
- Cleaning: gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to preserve their light-green shine.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its bright light-green foliage creates an immediate contrast with dark-leaved plants — it brings lightness and freshness to a composition of deep greens.
- For color contrast: pair it with the Aglaonema Jungle Silver with its broad silver areas and the Aglaonema Spring Red with its pink veins — three Aglaonemas, three very different colors, the same care requirements, and a cohesive collection.
- For dark rooms: pair it with a glossy, deep-green Zamioculcas and an Epipremnum Happy Leaf — three low-light-tolerant plants in light green / dark green / variegated green, creating a cohesive composition without much light.
- Decorative pot: a matte white, gray, or beige ceramic pot highlights the bright light green without competing with it.
Verdeia tips
- Low-limescale water is essential: brown edges on the leaves are almost always caused by limescale — use filtered water or leave water exposed to the air for 24 hours in an open container.
- The less you water it in winter, the better it does: in low light, the substrate takes much longer to dry — space out watering to every 2 weeks from October and gradually resume in spring.
- Repot every 2 to 3 years: in spring, using a light, well-draining substrate — exhausted substrate retains too much water and encourages root rot.
