Aglaonema Silver Queen — Chinese plant — Ø14 cm — H45 cm
✨ Elegant silvery foliage • 💨 Air-purifying plant • 🌙 Shade tolerance • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌱 Easy care • 🐾 Toxic to pets
The Aglaonema Silver Queen, also called Chinese plant or Chinese Evergreen, is a refined indoor plant known for its almost entirely silvery foliage with delicate green veins that create a luminous and sophisticated effect. This fascinating plant features leaves with soft metallic reflections that bring a touch of modern elegance and freshness to any space.
Native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, Aglaonema is a plant from the Araceae family that offers exceptional robustness and remarkable tolerance to low light conditions. The Silver Queen cultivar is especially appreciated for its almost entirely silvery foliage that brightens spaces while maintaining the easy care characteristic of the species. It is perfect for beautifying your living room, bedroom, office, or any space needing an elegant and purifying plant. Bonus: Aglaonema is recognized by NASA for its depolluting properties that naturally filter indoor air toxins.
Exposure & placement
The Aglaonema Silver Queen enjoys low to medium indirect light and remarkably tolerates shade. This silvery variety is one of the most visually bright, making it an excellent choice to brighten low-light spaces.
- Exposure: low to medium indirect light, tolerates shade, avoid direct sunlight.
- Ideal: living room, bedroom, office, entryway, or low-light rooms.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, avoid cold drafts and sudden changes.
- Substrate: light and well-draining, indoor plant soil with perlite.
Verdeia tip: place your Aglaonema Silver Queen a few meters from an east- or north-facing window to enhance its silvery reflections without burning its delicate leaves.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate; let the top 2-3 centimeters of substrate dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about once a week in summer, every 10-14 days in winter.
- Drainage: essential — use a pierced pot with well-draining substrate to avoid root rot.
- Humidity: prefers 40-60% humidity, occasionally mist the foliage to maintain its silvery shine.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer (NPK 10-10-10) diluted by half.
- Cleaning: regularly clean the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and preserve their metallic shine.
Aglaonema prefers to be slightly underwatered rather than overwatered — use room temperature water and avoid water that is too hard to prevent brown tips and maintain the silver shine.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
With its silver foliage and luminous reflections, the Aglaonema Silver Queen brings a touch of modern elegance and sophistication to your decor. Its compact form creates a bright and refined focal point.
- To pair with: Zamioculcas, Spathiphyllum, Sansevieria, or other elegant green plants to create a harmonious and calming composition.
- Ideal pot: matte ceramic decorative pot (white, light gray, black, beige) to highlight the silver reflections of the foliage.
- Atmosphere: perfect as a bright accent on a shelf, a piece of furniture, a contemporary desk, or as an elegant plant in a green arrangement.
The silver foliage of the Aglaonema Silver Queen harmonizes beautifully with natural materials like light wood or rattan to soften its metallic shine.
