Frequently Asked Questions
Should I remove fully white leaves? Yes — a leaf without chlorophyll cannot photosynthesize and weakens the plant by using its reserves without contributing to growth. Remove it cleanly at the base of the petiole as soon as it appears.
How do I care for a moss pole? Keep it regularly moist with a spray bottle — a damp moss pole encourages aerial roots to cling to it and stimulates the production of large, well-developed leaves. This is the most effective way to maintain the vigor of an XXL climbing plant.

🌿 Unique green and cream-white variegated foliage • 🪵 Moss pole included • ☀️ Moderate indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 📏 H125 cm | Pot Ø24 cm • 🌬️ Air-purifying • ⚠️ Toxic to animals
Epipremnum Pinnatum 'Albo Variegata' is a highly sought-after collectible plant — its large elongated leaves, variegated with cream white and deep green, create spectacular foliage that is unique to each leaf. This XXL H125 cm format comes with its integrated moss pole, which the plant naturally climbs. Air-purifying, easy to care for.
Please note: toxic to animals. A reliable choice among collectible plants.
Which Epipremnum variety should you choose?
The Epipremnum genus comes in a wide variety of variegations and formats:
- Epipremnum Pinnatum 'Albo Variegata' (this plant) — cream-white and green variegation, large elongated leaves, XXL format on a pole. The rarest and most sought-after variety.
- Epipremnum Pinnatum on a moss pole — green foliage, leaves developing fenestrations with age, XXL format. The classic green version.
- Epipremnum Golden Pothos — variegated green and golden-yellow foliage with a trailing habit. The brightest variety.
- Epipremnum Marble Queen — marbled white and green variegation, compact size. The most graphic variety in a small format.
- Epipremnum Pinnatum Cebu Blue — metallic silvery-blue foliage with a trailing habit. The most original variety for its color.
Albo Variegata is a collectible plant with variable variegation — each leaf is unique. The more extensive the variegation, the more sought-after and rare the plant. A reliable choice among XXL large plants.
Exposure & placement
- Ideal exposure: moderate to bright indirect light — near a window without direct sun.
- Variegation: the brighter the light (without direct sun), the more pronounced the white variegation. In overly strong shade, new leaves tend to turn green again.
- Avoid: direct sun, which burns the highly sensitive white areas, and deep shade.
- Temperature: 18–27 °C, away from drafts.
- Space: its H125 cm size requires a clear, tall space — allow at least 130 cm of free height.
The white areas of the variegation lack chlorophyll — they are more sensitive to direct sun than the green areas. A spot with bright indirect light preserves both the variegation and the leaves. Its ideal placement depends on the balance between light and humidity.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the top 2-3 cm of substrate dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: approximately once a week in spring and summer, every 2 weeks in winter.
- Moss pole: regularly moisten the pole with a mister — this encourages the aerial roots to cling to it and stimulates more vigorous growth.
- Drainage: a pot with drainage holes is essential.
- Fertilizer: diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants, once a month in spring and summer.
Regularly moistening the moss pole is the most effective way to maintain vigorous growth and large, well-developed leaves. The frequency of watering should be adjusted according to the season.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its XXL size and spectacular variegated foliage make it a statement plant that immediately structures a space.
- Alone as a centerpiece: placed in a bright corner of a living room or entryway, it creates a strong, graphic plant presence — its two-tone foliage is visible from a distance.
- In a tropical arrangement: pair it with a Monstera deliciosa for a tropical climbing duo with contrasting foliage — fenestration versus variegation.
- Ideal pot: matte black or anthracite ceramic — dark tones make the creamy white variegation stand out without competing with it.
Its variegation evolves over time — new leaves may have more or less white depending on light levels and the season. This living and unpredictable character is what gives collector's variegated plants their charm.
Verdeia tips
- Variegation is random and unique — each leaf has its own distribution of white and green. This is the very nature of this collector's plant — no two specimens are alike.
- Remove completely white leaves — a leaf without chlorophyll cannot photosynthesize. If a leaf emerges completely white, remove it so as not to weaken the plant.
- Moisten the moss pole — this is the key step in caring for this XXL format. A moist pole encourages aerial roots and maintains the plant's vigor. Good seasonal care practices begin with spring preparation.
- ⚠️ Toxic to animals — contains calcium oxalate crystals. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs. In a home with pets, it is best to choose from the plants and pets that are compatible.
