Branched Ficus lyrata — Indoor lyre fig
The branched Ficus lyrata, also called lyre fig, is an iconic tropical plant with a majestic bearing and graphic foliage. Its large lyre-shaped leaves, deep green and shiny, instantly bring a strong and sophisticated plant character to your interior.
Branched on several stems, this indoor Ficus stands out by its sculptural and balanced silhouette. A true centerpiece of contemporary decor, it embodies lush and elegant nature in the heart of the city.
Exposure & location
The Ficus lyrata likes bright and indirect light. Too little light slows its growth and thins its foliage. It appreciates stability: avoid moving it too often.
- Ideal: bright living room or office, near a bay window or a large sheer-covered window.
- Avoid: drafts, radiators, and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Perfect location: in a well-lit corner where it can express its height and volume.
Verdeia tip: the more generous the light, the larger and shinier its new leaves will be.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the substrate dry 2 to 3 cm between waterings.
- Frequency: about every 10 to 15 days depending on the season and light.
- Humidity: it likes slightly humid environments — mist its foliage occasionally.
- Care: regularly clean the large leaves with a soft damp cloth.
- Level: moderate — it requires regularity and stability but remains robust once established.
Beware of excess water: better a slight lack than a waterlogged substrate.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The branched Ficus lyrata stands out as an exceptional plant, perfect for structuring a space and creating a “chic jungle” effect. Its natural presence makes it a preferred choice of interior architects.
- Visual look: tall bearing, spectacular lyre foliage, and majestic appearance.
- To pair with: Strelitzia nicolai or Monstera deliciosa for a contemporary tropical vibe.
- Ideal pot: XXL planter cover in ceramic or woven basket to emphasize its stature.
- Where to place: living room corner, spacious office, or bright entrance.
It likes space: avoid placing it against a wall so its leaves can breathe freely.
Verdeia tips
- Repotting: about every 2 years, in a slightly larger pot, in spring.
- Substrate: draining mix based on potting soil and coconut fiber or perlite.
- Pruning: possible to harmonize branching or limit height.
- Dull leaves: sign of lack of light or too dry air — adjust exposure.
The bigger it grows, the more it becomes a true interior piece: a sculptural and living plant.
