Pachira aquatica — Money tree
The Pachira aquatica, also called money tree or Guyana chestnut, is an elegant tropical plant, famous for its braided trunk and lush foliage. A symbol of prosperity and harmony, it brings a zen and balanced touch to any interior.
Adapted to city life, it thrives in bright spaces without direct sun — perfect for a living room, office, or entryway. A strong, gentle, and soothing plant presence, ideal for creating a natural and harmonious atmosphere.
Exposure & location
The Pachira aquatica likes soft, filtered light, without direct exposure to sunlight. It enjoys ambient warmth and adapts perfectly to our modern interiors.
- Exposure: indirect light or bright partial shade.
- Location: bright room, office or quiet living room.
- Ideal temperature: between 18 and 26 °C.
- Outdoor: possible in summer, in the shade and sheltered from the wind.
Verdeia tip: regularly turn the plant so it maintains balanced growth.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the surface of the soil dry between waterings.
- Drainage: essential: avoid any stagnant water in the planter cover.
- Misting: light and regular to maintain good humidity.
- Care: wipe the leaves with a soft cloth to maintain their shine.
In winter, space out watering: excess water is riskier than a slight forgetfulness.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
The Pachira aquatica is an architectural plant that draws the eye with its elegant shape and palmate foliage. It fits equally well in contemporary decor as in a more bohemian or zen atmosphere.
- To pair with: Zamioculcas, Monstera, or Ficus lyrata for a harmonious tropical ensemble.
- Ideal planter cover: large matte ceramic planter cover or natural woven basket.
- Atmosphere: relaxation corner, bright living room, or calming office.
In feng shui, it symbolizes luck and prosperity — a positive energy to cultivate at home.
Verdeia tips
- Water sparingly: its fleshy roots store water.
- Avoid drafts and sudden temperature changes.
- Repot every 2 to 3 years in a light and well-draining mix.
An easy and majestic lucky tree, perfect for bringing calm and balance to an urban interior.
