Red Cyclamen — Ø17 cm — H40 cm
🌸 Bright red flowering • ☀️ Soft light / Partial shade • 💧 Regular watering • 🪴 Easy to maintain
The Red Cyclamen is a refined and charming indoor plant, famous for its vibrant flowers and heart-shaped leaves. Native to the Mediterranean basin, this decorative plant brings a touch of color and natural elegance to any interior.
Its reflexed petals and flowers borne on long stems above the foliage create a graceful and light effect. Ideal for bright rooms without direct sunlight, the Cyclamen is also appreciated for its generous and long-lasting winter flowering.
Exposure & location
The Red Cyclamen enjoys bright but filtered light and cool environments. It thrives in a well-lit room, sheltered from direct sunlight and heat sources (radiator, fireplace, etc.).
- Exposure: partial shade or indirect light.
- Ideal: east or north windowsill, cool and bright room.
- Temperature: between 12 and 18 °C.
- Substrate: light soil, rich in humus and well-drained (mix of potting soil, sand, and peat).
Verdeia tip: to prolong flowering, keep the plant in a cool place and remove faded flowers at the base of the stem.
Watering & maintenance
- Watering: regular, about once a week, without excess; let the surface of the soil dry between waterings.
- Drainage: essential: avoid stagnant water at the bottom of the pot.
- Fertilizer: every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing period, with diluted liquid fertilizer.
- Maintenance: regularly remove faded leaves or flowers to stimulate flowering.
- Rest: after flowering, gradually reduce watering and keep the plant cool.
Verdeia tip: always water from below (in the saucer) to avoid wetting the center of the bulb, which is sensitive to moisture.
Decoration ideas & plant combinations
The Red Cyclamen brings a warm and colorful note to winter interiors. Its bright hues pair perfectly with natural materials and plants with deep green foliage.
- To combine with: Sansevieria, Zamioculcas, or Ficus ginseng to contrast textures and colors.
- Ideal pot: matte white ceramic, light stoneware, or decorative pot terracotta.
- Ambiance: ideal for a bright corner, coffee table, or windowsill.
Place it in a group of indoor plants to create a vibrant and harmonious plant composition.
Verdeia tips
- Avoid too high temperatures: cyclamen prefers cool environments.
- Always water moderately: too much water can rot the tuber.
- Clean the leaves to avoid dust and promote foliage breathing.
