Pilea ‘Mojito’ — Marbled money plant
🌿 Mottled foliage • 💡 Bright interior • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌱 Easy care
The Pilea ‘Mojito’ is a rare and striking version of the famous Chinese money plant. Its foliage mottled with tender green and cream gives it a fresh and bright look, perfect for brightening an urban interior.
Compact and original, it attracts all eyes with its round marbled leaves and elegant silhouette. Ideal for lovers of easy and decorative indoor plants.
Exposure & placement
The Pilea ‘Mojito’ appreciates soft, diffuse light. Too much direct sun could burn its delicate leaves, while a lack of light dulls its pretty marbling.
- Exposure : indirect light or bright partial shade.
- Ideal : on a desk, coffee table, or east- or north-facing windowsill.
- Temperature : between 15 and 25 °C, protected from cold drafts.
- Substrate : light and well-drained soil, ideally for green plants.
Verdeia tip: rotate the pot regularly so its foliage maintains a harmonious and dense shape.
Watering & maintenance
- Watering : moderate; water when the surface of the soil is dry to the touch.
- Drainage : essential to avoid any excess water at the roots.
- Fertilizer : once a month in spring and summer with a green plant fertilizer.
- Cleaning : gently wipe the leaves to preserve their shine and variegated pattern.
- Repotting : about every two years, in spring.
Avoid stagnant water in the decorative pot: the Pilea prefers airy roots and slightly moist soil.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
With its unique variegated foliage, the Pilea ‘Mojito’ pairs wonderfully with plants in solid or dark tones. Its graphic look adds a contemporary and lively touch to any plant arrangement.
- To pair with : Calathea, Peperomia, or Fittonia for a contrast of textures and colors.
- Ideal pot : beige, green, or terracotta ceramic decorative pot to highlight its marbling.
- Ambiance : perfect in a Scandinavian, bohemian, or urban jungle decor.
Arrange it in a trio with other miniature plants to create a calming and bright green corner.
