Ficus Elastica ‘Tineke’ — Variegated Rubber Plant design & depolluting
🎨 Variegated green & cream • 🌤️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Easy care • 🌬️ Depolluting • 🏙️ Chic urban jungle
The Ficus Elastica ‘Tineke’, also called Variegated Rubber Plant, is a true icon of modern indoor plants. Its large glossy foliage blending deep green, cream, and pinkish touches immediately brightens any living space. Robust, graphic, and depolluting, it perfectly embodies the spirit of Verdeia’s chic urban jungle.
Native to the tropical forests of Asia, the Ficus Tineke easily adapts to city life. It naturally purifies the air while bringing an elegant and structured tropical note to your interior.
☀️ Exposure & location
This plant likes bright, filtered light without prolonged direct sun. It thrives especially well in bright rooms such as the living room, office, or a spacious entryway.
- Place it near an East or West-facing window.
- Avoid direct sun, which can burn the light leaves.
- Ideal temperature: between 18 °C and 26 °C.
💧 Watering & care
Easy to live with, the Ficus Tineke likes moderate and regular watering. Let the top layer of soil dry out before watering again, and reduce frequency in winter.
- Water about once a week, every 2–3 weeks in winter.
- Ideal substrate: well-draining soil with perlite or sand.
- Avoid stagnant water in the saucer.
- Regularly mist or dust the leaves to preserve their shine.
🌿 Verdeia tips
The Ficus Tineke is an expressive and robust plant: it reacts quickly to changes in light or humidity. Here are some tips to keep it splendid all year round:
- Clean the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to maintain their gloss.
- Rotate the planter cover every two weeks for even growth.
- Apply a balanced fertilizer once a month from spring to autumn.
- Repot every 2–3 years to provide healthy root space.
- Avoid drafts and direct proximity to radiators.
🪴 Decoration ideas & plant pairings
A true design plant, the Ficus Tineke instantly structures and dresses a contemporary or bohemian interior. It pairs perfectly with natural materials or golden accents.
- In a beige, golden, or terracotta planter cover, it enhances its variegated foliage.
- Create a harmonious duo with a Monstera Deliciosa or a Zamioculcas for a chic tropical vibe.
- Pair it with a Calathea Orbifolia for a graphic contrast play.
- Place it in a bright corner of the living room or office for an architectural effect.
