Schefflera Compacta ‘Nora’ – Compact umbrella tree
💚 Elegant and compact • 🌬️ Air purifier • 💧 Easy to maintain • 🌿 Dense foliage • 🏙️ Urban jungle
The Schefflera Compacta ‘Nora’, also called the compact umbrella tree, is a tropical indoor plant as balanced as it is elegant. Its shiny green foliage, arranged in umbels, forms a dense and harmonious silhouette that immediately catches the eye.
Thanks to its compact shape and ease of care, it fits just as well in a large bright living room as in an urban apartment. A true symbol of tropical elegance, it brings calm, balance, and structure to contemporary interiors.
Exposure & location
Native to tropical Asia, the Schefflera Compacta ‘Nora’ likes soft, indirect light. It tolerates partial shade well, making it a versatile plant suited to urban living. Its dense foliage benefits from regular natural light without being exposed to direct sun.
- Bright indirect light to partial shade.
- Avoid direct sunlight that could burn the leaves.
- Ideal for rooms facing east or north.
- Temperature: between 18 and 25 °C.
- Avoid cold drafts and direct heat sources.
Verdeia Tip: rotate it regularly for balanced growth and even foliage.
Watering & maintenance
Easy to maintain, the Schefflera Compacta ‘Nora’ appreciates slightly moist but well-drained soil. It does not tolerate excess water, which could weaken its roots. Its regular care is limited to a few simple actions to preserve its tropical brilliance.
- Water moderately, when the surface of the potting soil begins to dry.
- In winter, space out watering (about every two weeks).
- Lightly mist the leaves in summer or in dry rooms.
- Clean the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to revive their shine.
- Add some clay balls to the bottom of the pot for optimal drainage.
Verdeia Tip: light and regular watering is enough — better a bit too dry than too much moisture.
Verdeia Tips
The Schefflera Compacta ‘Nora’ stands out with its balanced presence and natural elegance. Undemanding, it adapts perfectly to modern interiors and helps create a harmonious plant atmosphere.
- Repot it every 2 years in spring in a light and draining substrate.
- Avoid excess fertilizer: a monthly application in spring and summer is enough.
- Place it in a stable spot, without sudden temperature changes.
- If the leaves yellow, reduce watering and improve drainage.
- Watch the light: a spot that is too dark will slow its growth.
Decor ideas & combinations
With its compact form and shiny foliage, the Schefflera Compacta ‘Nora’ fits equally well in a minimalist decor or a dense urban jungle. It brings a touch of soothing verticality and natural elegance.
- Ficus elastica — for a sculptural tropical composition.
- Calathea Orbifolia — for a graphic and bright contrast.
- Philodendron Imperial Green — for a dense and balanced jungle.
- In a matte ceramic, golden, or natural fiber planter cover, it becomes a true focal point.
Verdeia Tip: place it in a corner of the living room, an entrance, or an office to enhance the space without cluttering it.
