🌬️ Air-purifying • 💚 Easy to care for • ✨ Satin foliage • 🏙️ Urban jungle • 🪴 Hanging or shelf
The Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus’, also called Satin vine, is a climbing or trailing tropical plant with subtle elegance. Native to Southeast Asia, it charms with its heart-shaped leaves dotted with silver, featuring soft and silky reflections that catch the light.
Easy, resilient, and refined, it is ideal for creating a chic and calming urban jungle. A modern classic, both soft and graphic, that adapts to all city interiors.
Exposure & location
- Prefers indirect light or bright partial shade.
- Avoid direct full sun which burns its delicate leaves.
- Perfect for hanging or on a high shelf.
- Ideal temperature: 18–25 °C, protected from cold drafts.
Verdeia tip: place it near an east-facing window to enhance its silver reflections throughout the day.
Watering & care
- Moderate watering: about once a week, when the top of the soil is dry.
- Use non-calcareous water at room temperature.
- Mist occasionally to replicate its original tropical atmosphere.
- Apply liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks in spring and summer.
- Lightly prune stems to stimulate branching and maintain a nice shape.
Verdeia advice
- Substrate: a light and well-draining soil mix promotes growth (mix of potting soil, perlite, and coconut fiber).
- Repotting: about every 2 years, when roots fill the pot.
- Support: offer a moss stake if you want it to climb.
- Rotation: rotate the plant regularly for even and balanced growth.
- Cleaning: dust leaves with a soft cloth to preserve their silver reflections.
Decor ideas & combinations
- Beautiful hanging: its trailing stems form a silver cascade.
- Perfect on a shelf or tall furniture for an elegant trailing effect.
- Pair it with a Philodendron scandens or a Maranta Fascinator for a contrasting tropical jungle.
- A light, golden, or concrete planter cover highlights its satin and luminous foliage.
