Verdeia tips
  • Upon receipt, take the plant out of its box and allow it 24 to 48 hours to acclimate in a bright place without direct sunlight.
  • Check the soil moisture before watering; add a little water only if the surface is dry.
  • Avoid heat sources and drafts, and keep a slightly humid atmosphere to preserve the beauty of the foliage.
  • Wait 2 to 3 weeks before any repotting, allowing the plant time to stabilize.
  • Gently wipe the leaves to remove dust and observe them: slight stress during the first few days is completely normal.

Philodendron Scandens ‘Brasil’ – Tropical heart vine

    💚 Variegated foliage • 🌬️ Air purifier • 💧 Easy care • 🌿 Hanging or climbing • 🏙️ Urban jungle

The Philodendron Scandens ‘Brasil’, also called the tropical heart vine, is an icon of indoor greenery. Its variegated foliage blends emerald green and golden highlights to create a bright and lively touch in your space.

Native to the tropical forests of South America, it charms with its flexible and decorative growth, capable of climbing, hanging, or spreading depending on your interior. An expressive plant, ideal for adding depth and warmth to the urban jungle.

    Exposure & location

The Philodendron ‘Brasil’ likes soft light without excess. It tolerates partial shade and adapts very well to bright apartments without direct sun. Its golden hues become more intense in indirect light.

    • Exposure: indirect light to partial shade.
    • Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn its delicate leaves.
    • Ideal temperature: between 18 and 28 °C.
    • Tolerates dry atmospheres but prefers light humidity.
    • Suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, or bright hallways.

Verdeia Tip: rotate it regularly for balanced growth and evenly distributed foliage.

    Watering & maintenance

An easy and forgiving plant, the Philodendron ‘Brasil’ prefers slightly moist soil without excess water. Its vibrant foliage requires little maintenance, perfect for busy city dwellers or beginners.

    • Water moderately, about once a week.
    • Let the soil surface dry out between waterings.
    • In winter, space out watering to every 2–3 weeks.
    • Mist the foliage to maintain a pleasant atmosphere.
    • Cut back overly long stems to encourage branching.

Verdeia Tip: hang it or place it on a shelf for a spectacular cascading effect.

    Verdeia tips

Versatile and resilient, the Philodendron ‘Brasil’ adapts to all interior styles. It thrives in stable conditions and particularly enjoys terracotta or ceramic pots that allow its roots to breathe.

    • Apply a little liquid fertilizer every 3 to 4 weeks in spring and summer.
    • Avoid excess water; the secret to vibrant foliage is good drainage.
    • Guides its stems on a stake or lets them hang freely.
    • Clean the leaves with a soft cloth to remove dust and revive their shine.
    • Repot it every 2 years to encourage vigorous growth.

    Decor ideas & combinations

Its golden and green tones perfectly match natural materials and contrasting textures. It easily combines with other tropical plants for a balanced and bright effect.

    • Scindapsus pictus ‘Trebie’ — for a silvery and textured contrast.
    • Philodendron micans — for a velvety and elegant touch.
    • Pothos Marble Queen — for a golden tropical harmony.
    • Hanging, on a shelf, or trained on a green wall, it structures the decor without weighing it down.
