Calathea hydroponic Samoa LED – Tropical elegance & design light 🌿✨
💡 Integrated decorative LED • 🌱 Hydroponic culture • 🏺 Transparent Samoa glass • 🌿 Graphic foliage • 🏙️ Ideal for small spaces
The Calathea hydroponic in Samoa LED glass combines the tropical charm of a Calathea with the contemporary design of hydroponics. Grown without soil, directly in water, the plant reveals its roots in a transparent glass vase that lights up thanks to a built-in decorative LED ✨.
Its graphic foliage with marked veins and deep green contrasts creates a soothing and sophisticated atmosphere, ideal for a modern urban interior. Both a decorative object and a true living plant, it is a strong piece for a coffee table, shelf, or bedside table.
Verdeia tip: place your LED Calathea where you will enjoy its soft glow in the evening — its printed foliage becomes almost iridescent under the light.
Exposure & location
The Calathea appreciates soft and consistent light. It keeps more intense colors if kept out of direct sunlight.
- Light: bright indirect light or light partial shade.
- Avoid: prolonged direct sun, which can burn the leaves.
- Suitable spaces: living room, bedroom, office, shelf in a bright room.
- Bonus: it also appreciates slightly humid rooms like a bright bathroom.
Verdeia advice: keep it away from radiators and dry air sources to preserve supple foliage without brown edges.
Watering & maintenance
In hydroponics, no soil, no messy repotting. Maintenance is simple: just check the water and keep the vase clean.
- Water level: check and top up every 10 to 15 days so the roots are always partially submerged.
- Renewal: completely change the water every 2 to 3 months to keep roots healthy and avoid deposits.
- Vase maintenance: clean the inside of the glass to maintain transparency and the luminous effect.
- Food: add a few drops of diluted hydroponic fertilizer every 2 months (spring/summer) if you want to boost growth.
Note: the LED is purely decorative: it creates a warm atmosphere but does not replace the natural light the plant needs to live.
Verdeia tips
Our recommendations to keep your Calathea hydroponic Samoa LED beautiful, healthy, and luminous:
- Water quality: prefer soft or filtered water to avoid visible limescale on the glass and roots.
- Temperature: keep it between 18 and 26 °C. Avoid cold drafts and thermal shocks.
- Foliage: gently wipe the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to revive the patterns and remove dust.
- Stability: place it on a flat and stable surface: the glass vase is decorative but remains fragile.
- Ambient light: turn on the LED in the evening for a soft plant glow like a night light — ideal on a bedside table or in a reading corner.
These simple actions prolong the beauty of the graphic foliage and ensure clean, clear, and healthy water for the roots.
Decor ideas & combinations
- Bedside table: soothing plant night light effect for a relaxing evening atmosphere.
- Office: brings a tropical, lively, and elegant touch without hassle.
- Living room: becomes a true design object that catches the eye, especially in contemporary interiors.
- Gift: perfect to offer a “wow” decorative plant to someone who loves design but not complicated maintenance.
- Combinations: combine it with a Clusia hydroponic or a Philodendron in a vase for a modern mini plant corner. Add a fern (Boston fern) to contrast fine textures and graphic leaves.
