Verdeia tips
  • Upon receipt, take the plant out of its box and allow it 24 to 48 hours to acclimate in a bright place without direct sunlight.
  • Check the soil moisture before watering; add a little water only if the surface is dry.
  • Avoid heat sources and drafts, and keep a slightly humid atmosphere to preserve the beauty of the foliage.
  • Wait 2 to 3 weeks before any repotting, allowing the plant time to stabilize.
  • Gently wipe the leaves to remove dust and observe them: slight stress during the first few days is completely normal.

    Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ – Tropical philodendron – D19 x H55 cm

    🌿 Tropical • 🧰 Easy to maintain • 💨 Air purifier • 🌤️ Indirect light • 🎨 Graphic silhouette

The Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ is a tropical indoor plant with a charm both wild and refined. Its long, deep green, veined, and glossy leaves unfold gracefully, drawing a graphic and elegant silhouette. Native to Central America, this rare variety captivates with its slender form and its ability to enhance bright spaces while purifying the ambient air.

Resistant, easy to maintain, and very decorative, it integrates harmoniously into modern urban interiors, bringing freshness, verticality, and natural balance.

    Exposure & location

The Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ appreciates soft light, without direct sun. It thrives in bright or slightly shaded rooms, where it displays its glossy and elegant foliage. It likes warmth and tolerates well the temperate environments of apartments.

    • Bright indirect light or partial shade.
    • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight that burns the leaves.
    • Ideal in a living room, office, or bright entrance.
    • Temperature: between 18 and 28 °C.
    • Enjoys medium to high ambient humidity.

Verdeia tip: place your Philodendron on a low piece of furniture or a pedestal to highlight its verticality and the shine of its leaves under the light.

    Watering & maintenance

The Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ requires little care. It prefers slightly moist soil, without excess water, and appreciates regular cleaning of its leaves to stay vibrant. With controlled watering and good brightness, it offers steady and vigorous growth.

    • Water when the top 2–3 centimeters of soil are dry.
    • Use non-calcareous water at room temperature.
    • Avoid saucers filled with stagnant water.
    • Lightly mist the foliage in summer to maintain humidity.
    • Wipe the leaves to preserve their shine and promote breathing.

Verdeia tip: in winter, space out watering and monitor air humidity — a small spray bottle works wonders.

    Verdeia tips

Elegant and robust, the Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ is an ideal plant for busy city dwellers. It brings a soothing tropical touch without requiring complicated care.

    • Repot it every 2 years in a draining mix (potting soil + perlite + fine bark).
    • Avoid drafts and sudden temperature changes.
    • Rotate the pot every 2 months for balanced growth.
    • Apply fertilizer for green plants every 2 months during the growing period.
    • Regularly wipe the leaves to keep their glossy and healthy appearance.

    Decor ideas & combinations

Thanks to its slender and graphic form, the Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ fits well in both contemporary decor and tropical atmospheres. It forms a superb duo with other plants with large foliage or contrasting textures.

    • Monstera deliciosa — for a balanced jungle effect.
    • Calathea Orbifolia — to contrast with large, wavy leaves.
    • Scindapsus pictus ‘Trebie’ — for a silvery and trailing touch.
    • In a matte black, gold, or terracotta planter cover, it becomes a strong sculptural element of your interior.

    Benefits & symbolism

Beyond its aesthetics, the Philodendron ‘Narrow Escape’ improves indoor air quality and promotes a soothing atmosphere. Its vertical and balanced foliage symbolizes vitality and the connection between nature and modern design.

    • Air purifier: naturally absorbs certain air particles.
