Caladium 'Bicolor' — also called Angel Wing or Heart of Jesus — displays spectacular heart-shaped foliage blending soft pink, white spots, bright red veins, and green edges. Native to the tropical forests of South America, it is one of the most colorful tropical plants in the indoor plant kingdom, capable on its own of brightening a corner of a room with a burst of color.
Unique cycle: Caladium is a dormant plant — the foliage fades and disappears in autumn, the tuber rests during winter, and restarts in spring with even more colorful new leaves. A seasonal plant experienced as a decorative event to renew each year.
Light & placement
Native to the tropical understory, Caladium naturally grows in filtered light. Prolonged direct sun fades the foliage and burns leaf edges.

Watering & care
A tropical understory plant, Caladium requires a substrate that is constantly moist throughout its growing season. Like the Marantaceae family to which it is related by its needs, it hates dry air that immediately browns the edges of its leaves.
- Watering: regular — substrate always moist during the growing season, about every 3 to 5 days.
- Drainage: essential — water must never stagnate in the saucer.
- Humidity: high — spray the foliage regularly or place the pot on a tray of moist clay pebbles.
- Fertilizer: liquid fertilizer for green plants every 4 to 6 weeks during growth, stop at late summer.
- Winter dormancy: gradually stop watering as foliage begins to yellow in autumn, keep the tuber dry in its pot at 15-18 °C until it restarts in spring.
