Frequently asked questions
Why are the stems of my Epiphyllum anguliger turning yellow? Overwatering or direct sunlight are the most common causes — reduce watering and move the plant to softer, indirect light.
Is it easy to propagate an Epiphyllum anguliger? Yes — take a 10 cm stem cutting, let it dry for 24 hours in open air, then plant it in slightly moist soil; roots will appear in a few weeks.

🐾 Non-toxic • 🌵 Trailing zigzag notched stems • 🌸 Fragrant white blooms • 💧 Moderate watering • 🪴 Delivered with hanging hook
The Epiphyllum anguliger, also known as the Zigzag Cactus, is an epiphytic cactus native to the humid tropical forests of Mexico - where it naturally grows attached to tree trunks, far from the image of a desert cactus. Its flat, zigzag-notched stems create a unique graphic and sculptural silhouette, particularly spectacular when hung. Pair it with other hanging plants.
In autumn, it can produce large, delicately fragrant white flowers - a rare and spectacular bloom indoors. A reliable choice for a plant-filled relaxation corner.
Light & placement
Epiphyllum anguliger enjoys soft, indirect light - unlike desert cacti, it is adapted to the filtered shade of tropical undergrowth. Direct sun burns its flat stems.
- Light: partial shade to bright indoor light - indirect light, avoid direct sun.
- Ideal for: hanging in a living room, bright kitchen or well-lit bathroom.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, protect from cold.
- Potting mix: airy and well-draining - orchid-type mix or light potting soil for epiphytic cacti.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate - let the potting mix dry out slightly between waterings. Use water at room temperature, preferably low in limescale. The stems are easily propagated by cuttings.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring and summer, every two weeks in winter.
- Humidity: enjoys a slightly humid atmosphere - mist the foliage in summer.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, use fertilizer for flowering cacti.
- Pruning: unnecessary - simply cut damaged stems at the base.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its trailing, zigzag-notched stems create a graphic and original plant cascade - a decorative effect impossible to achieve with a standard leafy plant.
- As a hanging plant curtain: pair it with a Tradescantia Zebrina with trailing purple stems - two hanging plants, two radically different textures, and two complementary color palettes.
- In an epiphytic arrangement: pair it with a hanging Kokodama Pilea - the same airy plant concept, two contrasting silhouettes, and an instant hanging jungle atmosphere.
- Decorative pot: delivered with a hanging hook - a hanging decorative pot made of natural fiber, rattan or light ceramic highlights the trailing stems without weighing them down.
Verdeia tips
- Do not confuse it with a desert cactus: Epiphyllum is a tropical forest cactus - it needs humidity and filtered light, not full sun and prolonged dryness.
- To encourage flowering: give it a winter rest period with less water and slightly cooler temperatures (15-18 °C) - this controlled stress stimulates the appearance of flower buds in autumn.
- It is easy to propagate from cuttings: take a 10 cm stem segment and let it dry for 24 hours before planting it in moist potting mix - a new plant in just a few weeks.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
