Frequently asked questions
Why is the red Euphorbia trigona losing its purple color? Lack of light is the main cause — move it to a sunnier spot and the purple coloring will gradually return on the new stems.
Is the sap of Euphorbia trigona dangerous? Yes — their milky sap is irritating to skin and mucous membranes, so wear gloves when repotting or if a stem breaks accidentally.

☀️ Full sun / Partial shade • 🌿 Sculptural upright form • 💧 Very little watering • 📏 H75 cm | Pot Ø17 cm (×2)
This red and green Euphorbia trigona duo brings together two euphorbias with upright, ridged stems — one with the characteristic purple hues of the 'Rubra' variety, the other a deep green — for an immediate contrasting and sculptural arrangement. Despite their cactus-like appearance, these two plants are euphorbias native to Central Africa, without areoles or true spines. Pair them with other cacti and succulents.
The appeal of this duo: two contrasting colors in the same species, with the same silhouette and care requirements — a cohesive arrangement with no effort. Euphorbias are among the most resilient of the 10 easy-care plants.
Light & placement
Both euphorbias love bright light and tolerate direct sun very well — the more sun they receive, the more intense the red plant's purple hues become.
- Light: full sun to bright partial shade — a south- or west-facing window is ideal.
- Ideal for: very bright living room, office, conservatory, sheltered balcony.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C — bring them indoors if temperatures fall below 10 °C.
- Substrate: well-drained, light, and slightly sandy — soil for cacti and succulents.
Watering & care
- Watering: very little — let the substrate dry out completely between waterings. Our finger test is particularly suitable for this type of plant.
- Drainage: essential — use pots with drainage holes and do not leave water standing in saucers.
- Fertilizer: apply a light dose every two weeks in spring and summer, using fertilizer for succulents.
- Cleaning: dust the stems with a soft cloth to preserve their shine.
- Winter: space out waterings and keep them in the light, protected from the cold.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Their upright silhouette and contrasting colors make them a structuring duo — placed side by side, they immediately create a composed look without needing other plants.
- Solo or as a duo: place the red Euphorbia trigona Rubra in the foreground and the green Euphorbia trigona slightly behind — the difference in hue creates natural visual depth.
- In a desert-inspired arrangement: pair them with a Zamioculcas and a Sansevieria Laurentii — four ultra-easy plants with the same minimal-watering routine and a graphic, cohesive trio.
- Decorative pot: matte beige ceramic or light stoneware highlights the red/green contrast without competing with it — avoid warm tones that blend into the red plant's color.
Verdeia tips
- Wear gloves when handling them: like all euphorbias, their milky sap is irritating to the skin and mucous membranes — protect yourself when repotting or if a stem breaks.
- More sun = more red: place the Rubra in the sunniest available spot — the purple coloration intensifies directly under bright light.
- Turn the pots regularly: monthly rotation ensures symmetrical growth on both sides and prevents the stems from leaning toward the light source.

How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
