Frequently asked questions
Why are the stems of my Euphorbia trigona leaning? Lack of light is the main cause — move it closer to a very bright window and rotate the pot a quarter turn every 2 to 3 weeks to ensure vertical and symmetrical growth.
Is the sap of Euphorbia trigona dangerous? Yes — its milky sap is irritating to skin and mucous membranes, always wear gloves when repotting or if a stem breaks accidentally.

☀️ Bright indoors / Partial shade • 🌵 Compact candelabra silhouette • 💧 Low watering needs • 🪴 Easy care • 📏 H40 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Euphorbia trigona, also known as the African candelabra tree, is a succulent native to Central Africa - Cameroon and Gabon - with an upright form and bright green, angular stems lined with small spines. Its architectural candelabra silhouette makes it both a striking and resilient plant. Pair it with other cacti and succulents.
This compact H40 cm | Pot Ø12 cm format is ideal for shelves, desks, and windowsills - for larger rooms, the H70 cm | Pot Ø17 cm version offers a more imposing silhouette.
Light & placement
Euphorbia trigona thrives in bright locations without harsh direct sun. Its growth will be more compact and colorful near a well-lit window - in partial shade, the stems gradually become elongated.
- Light: bright light to light partial shade - east- or southeast-facing is ideal.
- Ideal for: bright living room, office, windowsill, well-lit shelf.
- Temperature: 16 to 28 °C, away from cold drafts.
- Soil: very well-draining - cactus soil or a sand and perlite mix.
Watering & care
- Watering: low - water approximately every 2 weeks, only when the soil is thoroughly dry. Our finger test is particularly suitable for this plant.
- Drainage: essential - use a pot with drainage holes and empty the saucer after watering.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, using diluted fertilizer for succulents.
- Pruning: unnecessary - simply remove damaged stems while wearing gloves.
- Repotting: every 2 to 3 years in a slightly wider, well-draining pot.
Decorating ideas & plant pairings
Its compact vertical silhouette makes it an ideal accent plant for a shelf or desk - it adds strong graphic character without taking up much space.
- In a size progression: pair this compact format with the H70 cm version and the red Euphorbia trigona Rubra - three euphorbias, three heights, two colors, creating a cohesive arrangement that evolves over time.
- In a desert trio: pair it with a Sansevieria Laurentii and an Opuntia Rubescens Consolea - the same minimal-watering needs, with three distinct geometric silhouettes.
- Decorative pot: beige stoneware, matte ceramic, or natural terracotta highlights its sculptural character without competing with the stems.
Verdeia tips
- Wear gloves when handling it: its milky sap is irritating to the skin and mucous membranes - protect yourself when repotting or if a stem accidentally breaks.
- Rotate the pot regularly: a quarter turn every 2 to 3 weeks encourages vertical, symmetrical growth - without rotation, the stems lean toward the light.
- Underwatering is better than overwatering: excess moisture is the main cause of decline - always wait until the soil is completely dry before watering.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.

What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
