Frequently asked questions
Why are the stems of my Euphorbia trigona leaning? Lack of light is the main cause — move it closer to a very bright window and rotate the pot a quarter turn every 2 to 3 weeks to ensure vertical and symmetrical growth.
Is the sap of Euphorbia trigona dangerous? Yes — its milky sap is irritating to skin and mucous membranes, always wear gloves when repotting or if a stem breaks accidentally.

☀️ Bright interior / Soft sun • 🌵 Sculptural candelabra silhouette • 💧 Low watering needs • 🪴 Easy care • 📏 H70 cm | Pot Ø17 cm
The Euphorbia trigona, also known as the African milk tree, is a succulent native to Central Africa with an architectural appearance — upright, ribbed stems, pronounced ridges, and slightly reddish young shoots that highlight its sculptural form. Despite its cactus-like appearance, it is a euphorbia. Pair it with other cacti and succulents.
This green version differs from its relative, Euphorbia trigona Rubra, with its purple stems — the same silhouette, two complementary colors for highly effective visual combinations.
Light & placement
Euphorbia trigona needs as much light as possible — this is essential for maintaining its compact, upright form. In insufficient light, the stems become leggy and lean.
- Light: very bright to sunny indoors — soft sun is suitable, but avoid direct summer sun behind glass.
- Ideal for: living room, conservatory, or office near an east- or southeast-facing window.
- Temperature: 16 to 28 °C — avoid temperatures below 12 °C and cold drafts.
- Substrate: very well-draining — cactus mix, sand, and perlite.
Watering & care
- Watering: low — let the substrate dry out thoroughly between waterings. Our finger test is particularly suitable for this plant.
- Drainage: essential — always empty the saucer after watering.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, using diluted cactus fertilizer — stop completely in winter.
- Pruning: unnecessary — remove damaged segments with gloves if needed.
- Repotting: every 2 to 3 years into a slightly larger pot with drainage holes.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
Its totem-like silhouette instantly transforms a bright corner into an architectural focal point — it stands out on its own without any additional arrangement.
- In a contrasting duo: pair it with Euphorbia trigona Rubra with its purple stems — the same silhouette, two contrasting colors, and an immediately effective, cohesive arrangement.
- In a desert trio: pair it with a Sansevieria Laurentii and a Zamioculcas — three low-water plants, three distinct vertical forms, and zero maintenance hassle.
- Decorative pot: a terracotta, beige stoneware, or matte ceramic pot allows the substrate to breathe and highlights the plant's sculptural character.
Verdeia tips
- Wear gloves when handling it: its milky sap irritates the skin and mucous membranes — protect yourself when repotting or if a stem accidentally breaks.
- Turn the pot regularly: a quarter turn every 2 to 3 weeks ensures straight, symmetrical growth — otherwise, the stems gradually lean toward the light.
- Choose a heavy, stable pot: at 70 cm tall, its center of gravity is high — a heavy terracotta or stoneware pot helps prevent tipping, especially if you move it outdoors in summer.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
