Some plants are made to be photographed. Graphic foliage, geometric patterns, unexpected colors, sculptural shapes — they catch the eye and make any corner of a room photogenic. It’s no coincidence that Monstera, Pilea, and Begonia Maculata have been flooding Instagram feeds for years. This selection brings together the plants that make the biggest impact both in photos and in real life.
Monstera: the ultimate icon
Monstera deliciosa is the most photographed plant in the world. Its deep green, glossy fenestrated leaves are instantly recognizable and photographically perfect — each leaf is unique, every new fenestration is an event. The Monstera Monkey Leaf (adansonii), with its finer and denser perforations, is just as photogenic in a more compact form. The Monstera + Alocasia Zebrina + Strelitzia Pack brings together three tropical icons in one composition that will make any feed explode.
Alocasia: the futuristic look
Alocasia have leaves that look like they were drawn by an illustrator. The Alocasia Zebrina, with its striped stems like a zebra, is the most spectacular in photos. The Alocasia Polly (African mask), with its dark green leaves veined with silver, has an almost metallic finish. The 80 cm Alocasia Lauterbachiana, with its long, wavy leaves, is the most sculptural. The 3 Alocasia Pack (Zebrina, Cucullata, Lauterbachiana) offers three complementary silhouettes — Alocasia are the most Instagrammed genus after Monstera.
Begonia Maculata and Anthurium Clarinervium: the patterns
The Begonia maculata (angel wing) is the most striking patterned plant: olive green leaves dotted with silver spots and a burgundy red underside. In natural light, the spots shine like drops of mercury — the effect in photos is irresistible. The Anthurium clarinervium (velvet heart) competes with its heart-shaped, matte dark green leaves highlighted by raised white veins. It’s the ultimate portrait plant — a single leaf is enough for a memorable post.
Philodendron Birkin and Pilea: compact graphics
The Philodendron Birkin went viral thanks to its dark green leaves streaked with white lines — each leaf has a slightly different pattern, like a plant fingerprint. The Pilea peperomioides (Chinese money plant), with its perfectly round leaves on thin stems, is the purest photo subject: simple, graphic geometry that works on any background. The Pilea Mojito variegated adds light green marbling to the pattern. Pilea are compact, easy to photograph at arm’s length, and perfectly suited to Instagram’s square format.
Calathea and Maranta: the painted plants
Calathea have leaves that look like natural watercolors. Calathea Orbifolia, with its large round leaves striped with silver, is the most majestic. Calathea Makoyana (peacock plant), with its green and cream feather patterns, is the most detailed. Calathea Zebrina, with its dark green stripes on a light green background, is the most graphic. Maranta leuconeura (prayer plant) adds a dynamic dimension: its painted leaves fold up every evening — a Maranta time-lapse is one of the most viral botanical contents.
Syngonium and Tradescantia: the color
Syngonium Neon, with its neon pink foliage, and Syngonium Maria, in coppery pink, break the monotony of green. The Pink is the New Green Trio (Syngonium, Aglaonema, pink Philodendron) is the most colorful composition in the catalog — three matching pink plants in one frame. The metallic purple and golden Tradescantia Zebrina and Yellow Hill add colors no other plant produces. The Epipremnum pinnatum Albo Variegata, with its large white and green leaves, is the rarest and most coveted plant by collectors — the original and rare plants category groups these species that get reactions.
Kokodama and staging
Kokodama (hanging moss balls) are inherently photogenic — their spherical, organic shape stands out perfectly in a frame. The Kokodama Monstera Minima and Kokodama Maranta Mix are the most visual. The Design Mix Trio in golden decorative pots offers a ready-to-photograph composition with a high-end look. The Ceropegia woodii (string of hearts), with its delicate cascading vines, is the most photogenic trailing plant — backlit in front of a window, its silver leaves shine like confetti. Hanging plants add a vertical dimension to compositions, and tropical combinations help create varied plant scenes.
