Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the tips of my Dracaena 'Anita' leaves turning brown? Tip browning is almost always caused by fluoride or chlorine in tap water — use filtered water or let the water sit for 24 hours before watering to allow the chlorine to evaporate.
Can Dracaena 'Anita' stay in a room without windows? It tolerates low-light spaces better than most large plants, but a room with no natural light at all will eventually weaken the plant in the long term — a supplemental LED grow light for a few hours a day compensates for the lack of a window.

🌿 Shiny green lance-shaped leaves in a crown • ☀️ Bright indirect to partial shade light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🏙️ Slender vertical growth
Native to the tropical regions of Africa, Dracaena fragrans 'Anita' develops a very distinctive vertical form — a slender trunk topped with a dense crown of long, shiny green lance-shaped leaves that give the plant an architectural silhouette that is both elegant and contemporary. It is one of the largest plants most tolerant of partial shade in our XXL collection and our partial shade plants.
Which Dracaena variety to choose?
The Dracaena genus offers a wide variety of shapes and foliage — here are the main varieties in the catalog:
- Dracaena fragrans 'Anita' (this plant) — long, shiny solid green lance-shaped leaves, dense crown, classic vertical form (H100 cm | Pot Ø24 cm). The most elegant and timeless version.
- Dracaena Compacta branched — very dense short dark green leaves, several branched trunks (H100 cm | Pot Ø27 cm). The fullest and most structured version.
- Dracaena 'Lemon Lime' — variegated bright green and lemon yellow leaves. The brightest and most colorful version.
- Dracaena marginata — very thin leaves with red-pink edges, slender and graphic trunk. The most minimalist and architectural version.
- Dracaena 'Janet Lind' — wide solid green leaves, more massive and generous form. The most tropical version.
Light & location
- Light: bright indirect to partial shade — tolerates low light, but insufficient light slows growth and can reduce crown density. Avoid direct sun which burns leaves and causes brown spots.
- Ideal: living room, office, entryway, corner to structure, or bright room.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, without sudden changes or drafts.
- Substrate: light and well-draining — universal potting soil mixed with perlite.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — allow substrate to dry between waterings. Dracaena is sensitive to fluoride and chlorine — use filtered water or let tap water sit for 24 hours before watering to avoid brown leaf tips.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer, reduced in winter.
- Drainage: essential — pot with drainage holes and well-draining substrate, no standing water in the saucer.
- Humidity: prefers 40–60% humidity — dust leaves regularly or mist occasionally.
- Fertilizer: every 2 to 4 weeks in spring-summer, diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
- Living room corner: its slender vertical form naturally structures an empty corner — pair it with an upright Sansevieria Laurentii and a compact shiny green-leafed Zamioculcas for an architectural composition of large plants with very low maintenance.
- In a dimly lit entryway: its tolerance for partial shade makes it one of the best large plants for windowless entryways — its slender trunk and tall crown occupy vertical space without obstructing movement.
- Ideal pot: a tall white Brussels pot highlights the slender trunk and green crown by contrast, or a natural Selin basket for a warmer atmosphere.
Verdeia tips
- Use fluoride-free water to avoid brown tips: fluoride in tap water accumulates in leaves and causes brown necrosis at the tips — rainwater, filtered water, or tap water left to rest for 24 hours is enough to prevent this problem.
- Dust leaves once a month: dust dulls the characteristic shine of lance-shaped leaves and reduces photosynthesis — gently wiping each leaf with a damp cloth restores their full brightness.
- Repot every 2 to 3 years in spring: into a slightly larger pot — a well-done repotting with fresh substrate restarts growth and keeps the crown dense and vigorous.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
