🐾 Three non-toxic plants • 🌿 Three complementary forms • 🌤️ Indirect light • 💧 Easy care • 🎁 Ready to give
This trio brings together three houseplants chosen for one reason: they are all safe for cats and dogs. Cyperus, Callisia, and Chlorophytum complement one another through their forms — upright umbrella-like stems, a trailing creeping mat, and a clump of arching ribbon-like leaves — and join the catalogue's collection of non-toxic plants for pets.
The value of the set lies in their complementarity: all three share the same light requirements and can be grown side by side without compromise, yet their silhouettes are completely different. Bought separately, these three plants would cost almost twice as much.
What does this trio contain?
Three plants in Ø12 cm nursery pots, all non-toxic:
- Cyperus alternifolius 'Zumula' — slender upright stems topped with umbrella-like bracts. Cats happily chew on the stems, with no risk.
- Callisia repens — a mat of small, round, fleshy leaves that quickly trails over the edge of the container.
- Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum' — long green-and-cream ribbon-like leaves, with runners bearing young plantlets.
Light & placement
All three species have the same requirements, making it easy to place them together without compromise. None tolerates prolonged direct sun, and all become sparse in deep shade.
- Light: bright indirect light — an east- or west-facing window, or a south-facing window with a sheer curtain.
- Placement: shelf, windowsill, desk, living room — anywhere an animal can move around freely.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C — minimum 12 °C for all three.
- Soil type: light universal potting soil mixed with a little perlite.
Cyperus is the only one of the three that tolerates a saucer kept permanently filled with water: the other two prefer the surface of the substrate to dry between waterings.
Watering & care
All three plants are known for being easy to care for, but their watering schedules differ slightly. A light, well-draining substrate suits all three, and the foliage always signals a problem before it gets worse.
- Cyperus: frequent watering, substrate never allowed to dry out, saucer that can remain filled from April to September.
- Callisia: moderate watering, allowing the surface of the substrate to dry to a depth of 2 cm between waterings.
- Chlorophytum: moderate watering, preferably with low-lime water to prevent brown tips.
- Drainage: drainage hole for all three, with the saucer emptied after watering except for Cyperus.
- Fertilizer: liquid fertilizer for foliage plants, diluted by half, once a month from April to September.
- Repotting: every spring during the first two years — all three grow quickly.
All three are very easy to propagate: Chlorophytum plantlets, Callisia cuttings, and Cyperus umbrellas placed upside down in water.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The trio is enough to fill an entire shelf: one upright plant, one trailing plant, and one intermediate clump. It is also the simplest starting point for a home where cats and dogs like to nibble on plants.
- For a tiered shelf, place Cyperus at the back, Chlorophytum in the center, and Callisia at the edge of the shelf — all three heights can be seen at a glance.
- To complete the trio, add a Chlorophytum 'Bonnie' with curly leaves — the same genus as one of the three, but with a radically different form.
- For a delicate contrast, add a Pogonatherum 'Monica' with arching stems — a fourth non-toxic plant that extends the grass-like theme.
- To unify the arrangement, transfer all three into identical small decorative pots — the consistency of the containers highlights the diversity of the foliage.
The Ø12 cm nursery pots fit directly into most Ø13 to 14 cm decorative pots, avoiding the need to repot upon arrival.
Verdeia tips
- Keep Cyperus within your cat's reach: it is the only one of the three that cats instinctively chew, and it serves exactly the same purpose as cat grass. Placing the other two higher up prevents them from being peed on as your cat passes by.
- Adjust watering plant by plant: the habit of watering all three at the same time will drown Callisia and dry out Cyperus. A quick finger test in each pot is enough to decide.
- Propagate them from the first year: all three species can be propagated in anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. A single trio can produce around ten plants in one season, enough to fill several rooms.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
