Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Syngonium Neon climb? Yes — like all Syngoniums, it can develop a climbing habit if you provide a stake or moss support. Without support, it keeps a compact bushy form. Pinch the stems regularly to maintain a dense shape if you don’t want it to climb.
Why is my Syngonium Neon losing its pink color? The pink color almost always fades due to lack of light — move the plant to a brighter spot with bright indirect light. Leaves that have already turned green won’t go back to pink, but new shoots will regain their characteristic color in a better location.

🌿 Bright neon pink foliage • 🎨 Unique vibrant color • ☀️ Partial shade • 💧 Moderate watering • 📏 H25 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Syngonium podophyllum 'Neon', also called Goosefoot, is a spectacular indoor plant native to the humid tropical forests of Central and South America. Its bright neon pink foliage is its signature — young leaves emerge in a bright intense pink then gradually evolve to a soft green with pink nuances, creating a unique living and dynamic gradient in the world of indoor plants.
Easy to care for, fast growing, perfect for small spaces. Discover in our tropical selection and in our easy-care plant collection.
Which Syngonium variety to choose?
The Syngonium genus offers a palette of spectacular colors and patterns — here are the varieties available in our catalog:
- Syngonium 'Neon' (this plant) — bright neon pink, compact H25 cm. The most colorful and vibrant variety.
- Syngonium 'Maria' — coppery pink with elegant metallic shades, H25 cm. The sophisticated pink.
- Syngonium 'Pixie' — green foliage variegated with cream, dense and compact bushy habit. The classic miniature version.
- Syngonium 'White Butterfly' — cream-white foliage variegated with green, H35 cm. The elegant and bright classic.
- Syngonium 'Red Heart' — red-pink heart on green foliage, H30 cm. The graphic bicolor.
- Syngonium 'Golden' — bright golden-yellow foliage, climbing. The warm golden version.
- Marbled Syngonium — marbled green foliage, very compact H15 cm. The miniature graphic version.
- Green Syngonium — classic green arrow-shaped foliage, vigorous climber. The traditional version.
Why choose the Neon? It is the most colorful and spectacular variety — a neon pink that instantly brightens any space. If you want a softer and more refined pink, opt instead for the 'Maria'.
Exposure & placement
The Syngonium 'Neon' prefers partial shade with bright indirect light — this is the condition to maintain the intensity of its neon pink color. Too little light gradually fades the foliage.
- Exposure: Partial shade, bright indirect light — avoid direct sun that burns and fades the leaves.
- Ideal: bright shelf, desk, living room, or bedroom with good indirect light.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, without sudden changes or drafts.
- Soil: light, rich, and well-draining — universal potting mix with perlite.
The brighter the light (without direct sun), the more intense and saturated the neon pink will be. In a spot that’s too dark, new leaves grow pale green without pink.
Watering & care
The Syngonium 'Neon' is low-maintenance — it tolerates underwatering better than overwatering. The finger test is enough: wait until the soil surface is dry before watering.
- Watering: moderate — let the soil surface dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring and summer, reduced in winter.
- Drainage: essential — use a pot with drainage holes and well-draining soil.
- Humidity: prefers 50 to 70% humidity — mist occasionally or place near other plants.
- Fertilizer: every 2 to 4 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
- Size: pinch the stems to encourage a bushier, more compact shape.
The Syngonium 'Neon' is very easy to propagate — cut a 10 cm stem with at least one node and place it in water. Check out our propagation guide for all the details.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its neon pink creates a striking contrast with dark green foliage — an accent plant that immediately draws the eye in any arrangement.
- In combination: pair it with a purple Tradescantia zebrina or a Callisia repens 'Rosato' for a vibrant pink and purple arrangement — same color palette, same care needs.
- Ideal pot: a matte pink Groovy pot Ø13 cm — it enhances the pink palette without competing with it, and is perfectly sized for this compact format.
- Atmosphere: perfect on a bright shelf or desk for a spectacular colorful accent — its compact size (H25 cm) allows it to fit anywhere.
Verdeia tips
- Light controls the color — the neon pink intensifies with bright indirect light and fades in dark spots. If new leaves grow pale green without pink, it’s the first sign to move the plant to a brighter location.
- The leaves naturally change — young leaves are an intense pink, then shift to a soft green with pink hues as they age. This gradient is normal and part of the dynamic charm of Syngonium 'Neon' — each leaf is at a different stage of development.
- Pinch to thicken — without pruning, Syngonium stretches by exhausting its lower stems. Pinch just above a node every 4 to 6 weeks to get a dense and bushy plant rather than a single tall stem.
- Toxic to pets — like all Araceae, Syngonium contains calcium oxalates that irritate the mouth and throat if ingested. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
