Frequently Asked Questions
How do you care for a kokedama made of coconut fiber? Soak the kokedama for 10 to 15 minutes in a container of fresh or filtered water, let it absorb the water, then drain well before putting it back in place — repeat about every 2 weeks.
Is Maranta suitable for a bathroom? Yes — a bathroom with good indirect light is actually an ideal spot, as the natural ambient humidity enhances the leaf patterns and reduces the need for misting.

🌿 3 Marantas with dynamic graphic foliage • 🧵 Handmade coconut fiber kokodama • ☁️ Partial shade • 💧 Moderate watering • 🐾 Non-toxic • 📏 H20 cm | Kokodama Ø15 cm
The Kokodama Maranta Mix brings together three varieties of Maranta leuconeura with graphic patterns and dynamic foliage, each presented in a handmade suspension made from biodegradable coconut fiber. Their leaves fold up in the evening and unfold in the morning — a fascinating natural movement that has earned them the nickname prayer plant. Non-toxic, partial shade, easy care.
Pair with Marantas and trailing plants. Combine with the best trailing plants in a hanging display.
Light & placement
Marantas prefer filtered light — they mimic their natural habitat in the tropical understory of South America, sheltered from direct sun. Their ideal placement depends on the balance between light and humidity.
- Light: partial shade to soft indirect light — avoid direct sun, which burns the delicate leaves and fades their patterns.
- Ideal: hanging near an east- or north-facing window, in a bright living room or a well-lit bathroom.
- Temperature: 18 to 26 °C, protected from cold drafts.
- Humidity: they appreciate a slightly humid atmosphere — misting is recommended.
Group the kokodamas together to create a natural tropical microclimate — grouped plants maintain more stable ambient humidity and intensify their foliage.
Watering & care
Marantas appreciate slightly moist soil — neither too dry nor waterlogged. The right watering schedule should follow how quickly the soil dries.
- Watering: moderate — keep the soil slightly moist without excess.
- Water: soft or filtered water at room temperature — they are sensitive to limescale.
- Fertilizer: every 3 to 4 weeks in spring and summer, using a light dose.
- Care: gently clean the leaves to support respiration and preserve the brightness of their patterns.
In winter, space out waterings while maintaining sufficient ambient humidity — air that is too dry in winter causes the leaves to curl and turn brown.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Their spectacular graphic patterns and trailing habit make them standout plants in a hanging arrangement — they immediately draw the eye and add natural movement.
- Pairing: combine them with an Asplenium Parvati or a Calathea Makoyana for a composition of graphic plants with contrasting patterns — all with the same partial-shade and humidity requirements.

- Hang at different heights — a trio of kokodamas arranged at different heights creates a lively, airy plant display worthy of an urban jungle.
Verdeia tips
- Observe the leaf movement — Marantas fold their leaves vertically in the evening and unfold them horizontally in the morning. This natural movement, called nyctinasty, is an indicator of good health. If the plant stops moving its leaves, it is often a sign of insufficient water or light.
- Moisten the coconut fiber — lightly mist the kokodama itself if the fiber becomes too dry — overly dry coconut fiber absorbs water poorly and creates a hydrophobic substrate that is difficult to rehydrate. Regular misting keeps the fiber flexible and permeable.
- Turn the hanging plants regularly — turning them halfway every 2 weeks ensures even growth and prevents all the leaves from developing on the same side toward the light.

Our Verdeia commitments
FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
