Are decorative pots made of natural fiber waterproof?

No, natural fibers are not waterproof. That’s why you should always place a plastic saucer at the bottom of the decorative pot before putting in the plant pot, or use a plant pot with an integrated saucer. Empty excess water after each watering to protect the decorative pot and your furniture.

Can decorative pots made of natural fiber be used outdoors?

Yes, but with precautions. Place them in areas protected from direct rain (covered balcony, sheltered terrace). Excessive humidity and bad weather reduce their lifespan. For heavy outdoor use, opt for decorative pots made of weather-resistant plastic or ceramic instead.

How do you clean a decorative pot made of natural fiber?

Dust regularly with a dry cloth or soft brush. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth (not wet) and let it dry completely in the open air. Never soak in water or wash in a machine, as this would deform and damage the fibers.

Do natural fibers attract insects?

Dry, clean natural fibers don’t particularly attract insects. However, if they remain constantly damp, they can develop mold that attracts certain insects. The key is to keep your decorative pots dry by emptying excess water after watering and ensuring good ventilation.

What is the lifespan of a decorative pot made of natural fiber?

With proper care (protection from excessive moisture, regular cleaning, no intense direct sunlight), a natural fiber decorative pot lasts 2-5 years indoors. Outdoors in a protected area, expect 1-3 years. When it becomes too worn, you can compost it since the fibers are biodegradable.

Are fabric decorative pot bags washable?

It depends on the fabric. Check the care label. Some fabric bags can be hand washed in cold water and dried flat. Others should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Never put them in the washing machine or dryer, as this could shrink or deform them.

Can you plant directly in a decorative pot made of natural fiber?

It’s not recommended because natural fibers are not waterproof and would quickly degrade when in contact with water and moist soil. Always use them as decorative pots (decorative container) with a plant pot inside. If you absolutely want to plant directly, line the inside with a waterproof plastic film.

Are decorative pots made of natural fiber suitable for all plants?

Yes, they are suitable for all indoor plants as long as you follow the decorative pot principle (plant pot inside with saucer). They look especially beautiful with plants that have lush foliage (ferns, Monstera, palms) or trailing plants (Pothos, Tradescantia) that create a contrast with the fiber texture.

How to choose between natural fiber and ceramic?

Natural fiber: lighter, cheaper, visually warmer, bohemian/natural style, but less durable and not waterproof. Ceramic: heavier, more expensive, more durable, waterproof, elegant/modern style. Ideally, mix both to enjoy the benefits of each and create a varied, balanced urban jungle.
