Frequently Asked Questions
How to separate and repot the offshoots of the Ananas Rosita? Wait until the offshoots (seedlings at the base) reach 15 to 20 cm before separating them. Use a clean knife to detach them from the mother plant, let the cut dry for 24 hours, then repot in a lightly moist, light substrate for bromeliads. Place in a bright spot and do not water for a week.
Can you eat the pineapple of the Ananas Rosita? No — Ananas comosus 'Rosita' is a purely ornamental variety. Its fruit is not edible and has been selected only for its decorative qualities (color, size, and durability). Unlike the edible pineapple, it has not developed the taste and nutritional characteristics of its cousin cultivated for food.

🍍 Unique mini ornamental pineapple • 🌿 Slender green rosette foliage • ☀️ Bright light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🐾 Non-toxic • 🪴 Included white ceramic pot with a gold grid pattern • 📏 H35 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Ananas comosus 'Rosita' is a tropical bromeliad plant native to South America — an ornamental variety from the family of the edible pineapple. Its long, narrow, arching dark green leaves form an elegant rosette that supports a true mini ornamental pineapple. This decorative fruit, green at first and then turning pink as it matures, remains spectacular for 3 to 6 months — a unique botanical curiosity for an interior.
Non-toxic, delivered in its included white ceramic pot with a gold grid pattern — a distinctive, welcoming container that naturally complements the plant's exotic character. A beautiful idea among original plants and botanical gifts.
Life cycle & ornamental pineapple
Ananas Rosita has a fascinating life cycle typical of bromeliads — the plant devotes itself entirely to producing its unique ornamental fruit. Its stages follow the life cycle of indoor plants and the flowering calendar.
- Ornamental pineapple: 5 to 10 cm mini fruit that emerges green and then develops pink hues as it matures — remains decorative for 3 to 6 months.
- Non-edible: the pineapple is purely ornamental — do not consume.
- Monocarpic cycle: after fruiting, the mother plant produces offsets at its base and then gradually declines — this is its natural cycle.
- Offsets: the plantlets produced at the base can be gently separated and repotted to propagate the plant.
The pineapple's transition from green to pink takes several weeks — a fascinating decorative transformation to observe. To speed up the color change, place the plant in an even brighter spot.
Light & placement
L'Ananas Rosita thrives in bright light — this is essential for the pineapple to develop its characteristic pink hues.
- Exposure: bright light to moderate direct sun - the brighter the light, the faster the pineapple will turn pink.
- Ideal: sunny windowsill, bright desk, well-lit shelf.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C - enjoys warmth; avoid temperatures below 15 °C.
- Substrate: light and well-drained - potting soil for bromeliads or orchids with perlite.
A south- or east-facing windowsill is its ideal location - the combination of warmth and light accelerates the ripening and colouring of the ornamental fruit.
Watering & care
Watering the Ananas Rosita is particular - like all bromeliads, it is watered both through the substrate and through the central leaf rosette.
- Substrate watering: moderate - keep it slightly moist without waterlogging.
- Central rosette: pour a little water into the heart of the rosette between the leaves - this is the natural absorption method of bromeliads.
- Renewal: replace the water in the rosette every 2 weeks to prevent stagnation.
- Humidity: enjoys 60 to 70% humidity - mist the leaves regularly.
- Fertiliser: every 6 to 8 weeks in spring and summer with diluted liquid fertiliser.
If the tips of the leaves turn brown, this is a sign of air that is too dry or water that is too hard - use filtered or settled water and increase the frequency of misting.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
Its miniature ornamental pineapple and slender rosette foliage create a unique sculptural presence - a conversation plant that consistently fascinates visitors.
- Pairing: pair it with a Guzmania Hope or a Vriesea Elan for a composition entirely made up of bromeliads with contrasting blooms and ornamental fruits. Incorporate it into tropical arrangements with other tropical plants.
- Pot included: the white ceramic pot with a gold grid pattern is included - its contemporary, warm design naturally complements the plant's exotic character.
- Setting: perfect on a sunny windowsill, a bright shelf, or as a gift — its ornamental pineapple instantly creates a conversation starter.
Verdeia tips
- The pineapple is purely ornamental — unlike edible pineapple, the fruit of Ananas Rosita must not be eaten. It is grown solely for its decorative value — its color, shape, and display life make it a unique botanical feature in an interior.
- Water the rosette too — pour a little water between the leaves, into the center of the rosette. This is the natural absorption method of bromeliads — they absorb the water that accumulates in their center in their natural habitat. Replace this water every 2 weeks to prevent stagnation.
- The mother plant declines after fruiting — this is normal — this is the natural cycle of monocarpic bromeliads. When the mother plant begins to turn yellow, look for the offsets (baby plants) growing at its base, wait until they are 15 to 20 cm tall, and separate them for individual repotting.
- Non-toxic to animals and children — Ananas Rosita poses no risk in case of contact or accidental ingestion.
