This assortment combines miniature cacti and succulents in a single batch, delivered in 5.5 cm Ø nursery pots and measuring 5 to 10 cm tall. Ribbed spines, fleshy rosettes, bead-like leaves, and white fuzz come together in a selection from the arid regions of the Americas, South Africa, and Mexico, within the Cacti & Succulents collection.
The appeal of this mix lies in the complementary textures: the geometric rigidity of cacti contrasts with the softness of rosettes, whereas a batch from a single family creates a more uniform effect. Since their water and light requirements are almost identical, they can be grown together without compromise.
Light & placement
Both cacti and succulents require as much light as possible. In insufficient light, cacti become pointed and stretched, while rosettes loosen—both are permanent deformations.
- Light: bright light to direct sun — a south- or west-facing windowsill, without curtains.
- Placement: windowsill, bright desk, conservatory, open terrarium — also on a sheltered balcony from June to September.
- Temperature: 18 to 30 °C during growth — a cool winter rest between 8 and 12 °C intensifies colors and flowering.
- Soil type: highly draining cactus potting mix, amended with coarse sand or pumice.
Both families have exactly the same light requirements: there is no need to separate them or orient them differently within a composition.
Watering & care
In a 5.5 cm Ø pot, the volume of substrate is very small and dries quickly, but excess water remains far more dangerous than forgetting to water. A well-draining substrate is essential in such a small container.
- Watering: very infrequent — every 2 to 3 weeks from April to September, briefly soaking the pot and then allowing it to drain completely.
- Winter: almost complete pause — water at most once a month, or not at all if the room is cool.
- Drainage: essential — never leave standing water in a saucer or closed decorative pot.
- Leaves and spines: keep dry — water that collects in the center of a rosette or at the base of a cactus causes rapid rot.
- Fertilizer: half-strength cactus fertilizer, once a month from May to August only.
- Repotting: after one year, in a barely wider pot, using thick gloves for the cacti.
Soft, translucent lower leaves on a succulent or a dark, soft base on a cactus: in both cases, the message is the same—space out the waterings.
Decorating ideas & plant combinations
The combination of the two families is precisely what makes a composition easy to read: without textural contrast, a group of succulents looks like a uniform mass.
- For an open terrarium, arrange the plants on a bed of light-colored gravel, alternating a rigid form with a soft one—the alternation adds rhythm to the overall composition.
- For a composed tray, group twelve plants on a large saucer with sand and a few pebbles—the composition can be moved as one unit and looks like a miniature landscape.
- To fill out an existing arrangement, add assorted mini cacti or miniature succulents in the same 5.5 cm Ø size.
- For a ready-to-display finish, transfer them into identical small-format decorative pots — the uniformity of the containers highlights the diversity of the plants.
The 5.5 cm Ø nursery pots fit directly into most 6 to 7 cm Ø decorative pots, avoiding the need to handle the cacti upon arrival.
Verdeia tips
- Water by soaking rather than from above: in a 5.5 cm pot, water poured onto the surface runs off without moistening the root ball and collects in the center of the rosettes. Place the pot in a shallow amount of water for two minutes, then allow it to drain completely.
- Handle cacti with a strip of newspaper: folded into a band and wrapped around the plant, it creates an effective handle without crushing the ribs or driving the spines into your gloves.
- Give them a cool, dry winter: kept for two to three months between 8 and 12 °C without watering, the rosettes tighten and develop their most intense colors, while most cacti flower the following spring.

The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
