🏺 Terracotta Pots included • 🌵 Assorted varied species • ☀️ Bright light • 💧 Very infrequent watering • 🎁 Ideal as a gift • 🔢 6 quantities to choose from
This assortment brings together mini cacti already planted in Ø8.1 cm terracotta Pots, ready to display without repotting. Columnar, spherical, ribbed, or covered in white fuzz, they come from the arid regions of Central and South America and join the Cacti & succulents selection in the catalog.
The difference from the mini cacti in Ø5.5 cm nursery Pots lies in the container: terracotta is porous, allowing the substrate to dry faster and reducing the risk of root rot, the main danger for a cactus. It also provides a matte ochre finish that eliminates the need for any decorative pot.
Light & placement
Cacti require as much light as possible. In insufficient light, they become etiolated, producing a pale, slender growth at the top—a permanent deformation that can never be corrected.
- Light: bright light to direct sun — a south- or west-facing windowsill, without a sheer curtain.
- Placement: table, console, windowsill, bright desk — also on a terrace or balcony sheltered from the elements from June to September.
- Temperature: 18 to 30 °C during growth — a cool winter rest between 8 and 12 °C encourages flowering.
- Soil type: very well-draining cactus soil, already in place in the delivered Pots.
A cactus that narrows toward the top lacks light: the part that has already stretched will remain that way; only subsequent growth will regain a normal diameter once the plant receives better light.
Watering & care
Terracotta evaporates moisture through its sides, bringing watering slightly closer together than with a plastic pot while greatly reducing the risk of rot. The well-draining substrate remains essential.
- Watering: very infrequent — every 2 weeks from April to September, pouring the water directly onto the substrate.
- Winter: almost complete stop — water at most once a month, or not at all if the room is cool.
- Drainage: essential — never leave standing water beneath the Pots.
- Humidity: no requirements; never mist.
- Fertilizer: half-strength cactus fertilizer once a month from May to August only.
- Repotting: unnecessary during the first year, as the delivered Pots are already the right size.
Terracotta darkens when wet and lightens as it dries: the color of the pot shows at a glance whether the substrate is still moist.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
The matte ochre of the terracotta unifies the arrangement and highlights the diversity of the silhouettes. This is a ready-to-display format, with no handling or additional container required.
- For a windowsill display, arrange six to twelve Pots in a tight row — the uniformity of the containers brings out the differences in shapes and spines.
- For a contrast of textures, pair them with succulents in terracotta Pots of the same size — rigid ribs and fleshy rosettes complement each other in one arrangement.
- For a centerpiece, group nine pieces on a wooden tray with light-colored sand — the arrangement can be moved as one unit and looks like a miniature landscape.
- For a group gift, the set of 3 is ready to present as is, with each pot already finished and no additional packaging required.
A whitish film sometimes appears on the terracotta after repeated watering: these are the water's mineral salts migrating through the sides, with no consequences for the plant.
Verdeia tips
- Handle them with a strip of newspaper: folded into a narrow strip and wrapped around the cactus, it makes an effective handle without crushing the ribs or lodging the spines in your gloves.
- Pour the water along the side of the pot: water that pools at the base of the cactus, in direct contact with the epidermis, causes crown rot. Side watering reaches the roots without wetting the plant.
- Give them a cool, dry winter: kept for two to three months at 8 to 12 °C without watering, most species flower the following spring. This is the only condition for getting flowers on this type of cactus.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
