Frequently Asked Questions
Can Peperomia Raindrop live in a windowless office? It tolerates low light better than many plants, but a room with no natural light at all will eventually wear it out in the long run. A grow light on for a few hours a day effectively compensates for the lack of a window and keeps the foliage healthy and shiny.
Why are the leaves of my Peperomia Raindrop softening? Soft or translucent leaves almost always indicate overwatering — the roots are starting to rot. Let the soil dry out completely, make sure the pot drains well, and drastically reduce watering frequency. Peperomia clearly prefers underwatering to excess moisture.

🌿 Large, round, glossy green leaves • 🎨 Compact and full growth habit • ☀️ Indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🪴 Included black ribbed ceramic pot • 🐾 Non-toxic • 📏 H25 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop' is a compact tropical plant native to the humid forests of Ecuador and Peru. Its large, fleshy, glossy green water-drop-shaped leaves are its signature - round, thick, and shiny, they make it particularly hardy and easy to care for. Presented in an included black ribbed ceramic pot, the contrast between the glossy green and matte black creates an immediately elegant, contemporary graphic composition.
Non-toxic, compact, and ready to display. Pair it with Peperomias and easy-care, non-toxic plants.
Which Peperomia variety should you choose?
The Peperomia genus offers a remarkable diversity of shapes and textures - here are the varieties available in our catalog:
- Peperomia 'Raindrop' (this plant) - large, round, glossy green leaves and a compact H25 cm growth habit. The most graphic and luminous version.
- Peperomia 'Raindrop' in a natural woven basket - the same plant in a natural and bohemian container.
- Peperomia 'Burning Bush' - spectacular green and red foliage with a compact growth habit. The colorful version.
- Peperomia caperata 'Rosso' - dark green, quilted leaves on top and red underneath. The two-tone textured version.
- Peperomia 'Rana Verde' - light green, wrinkled leaves and a very compact growth habit. The miniature graphic version.
- Peperomia rotundifolia - tiny, round leaves on trailing stems. The delicate trailing version.
Why choose Raindrop? It is the variety with the largest and most graphic leaves - its round, glossy leaves create an immediate decorative effect that the other, smaller Peperomias cannot replicate.
Position & placement
Peperomia Raindrop enjoys soft, indirect light - it evolved beneath the tropical canopy and does not like direct exposure to sun. Its ideal location depends on the balance between light and humidity.
- Position: indirect light to partial shade - tolerates low light, avoid direct sun.
- Ideal: office, shelf, bedroom, bathroom or dimly lit living room.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden fluctuations.
- Substrate: light, rich and well-drained - universal potting soil with perlite.
The black ribbed ceramic pot fits perfectly into modern, industrial or minimalist interiors - it highlights the glossy green of the leaves even more through contrast.
Watering & care
Peperomia stores water in its fleshy leaves - it prefers to be slightly underwatered rather than overwatered. The right watering schedule depends on how quickly the substrate dries out.
- Watering: low - let the substrate dry out thoroughly between waterings.
- Frequency: approximately every 2 weeks in spring and summer, once a month in winter.
- Drainage: essential - the ribbed pot is included.
- Humidity: enjoys 50 to 70% humidity - mist occasionally.
- Fertilizer: every 6 to 8 weeks in spring and summer with diluted liquid fertilizer.
Overwatering is the main cause of mortality - the stems rot quickly if the substrate remains waterlogged.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The contrast between the glossy green leaves and the matte ribbed black pot creates a graphic, contemporary arrangement - particularly effective in interiors with neutral or dark tones.
- Pairing: pair it with a Pilea peperomioides or a Maranta for a compact plant arrangement with contrasting round leaves.
- Pot included: the ribbed black ceramic pot is included — the set is ready to display with nothing else needed.
- Setting: perfect on a desk, shelf, or console table — its compact size (H25 cm) allows it to fit anywhere.
Verdeia tips
- Water sparingly — Peperomia stores water in its fleshy leaves and tolerates temporary drought well. Push your finger 3 cm into the soil — if the substrate is still damp, wait a little longer. Excessive watering causes stem and root rot that is difficult to reverse.
- Wipe the leaves regularly — Raindrop's large, glossy leaves accumulate dust more quickly than small-leaved varieties. Wiping them monthly with a damp cloth maintains their shine and optimizes photosynthesis.
- Tolerates low light — this is one of its greatest qualities. It can thrive away from windows, in poorly lit offices, or in bathrooms without direct light. However, direct sun quickly burns its leaves.
- Non-toxic — Peperomia poses no risk to cats, dogs, or children.
