Certain plants have been associated for centuries with luck, prosperity, and positive energy. Whether you follow feng shui or are simply looking for a symbolic gift, these species carry a story and meaning that go beyond mere decoration.
Pachira aquatica — the money tree
Pachira aquatica, nicknamed the Money Tree, is the most famous lucky plant in the world. According to Asian tradition, its braided trunk holds fortune, and its five leaves represent the five elements of feng shui. It is traditionally placed at the entrance of a business or in the prosperity corner of a home (the southeast corner according to feng shui). Beyond the symbol, it is an easy and elegant plant that adapts to most interiors.
Pilea peperomioides — the Chinese money plant
Pilea peperomioides gets its nickname "Chinese money plant" from its perfectly round leaves that resemble coins. According to tradition, it attracts financial abundance to the home. It is also one of the most shared plants worldwide: it naturally produces offshoots that are given to loved ones—a gesture believed to multiply luck. Find all our varieties in the Pilea collection.
Crassula — the jade plant
Crassula, or jade plant, is a succulent whose fleshy, shiny leaves resemble jade stones—a symbol of wealth and longevity in Asia. In feng shui, it is placed near the entrance to welcome prosperity. It is also one of the easiest plants to care for: almost impossible to kill as long as you don’t overwater it. Discover also our cactus and succulents collection.
Ficus Ginseng Bonsai — wisdom and longevity
Ficus Ginseng, with its knotted aerial roots and bonsai form, is a symbol of wisdom, patience, and longevity. In feng shui, it purifies a room’s energy and promotes harmony. Its sculptural trunk also makes it a striking decorative piece that draws the eye. The bonsai is a particularly appreciated gift for housewarmings and important events.
Zamioculcas — the fortune plant
Zamioculcas (ZZ plant), with its shiny, evenly spaced leaves climbing like stairs along its stems, is associated with financial growth and perseverance. In feng shui, its upward shape symbolizes progress. It is also the toughest plant in this selection: it survives almost anything, including weeks of total neglect.
Giving a lucky plant as a gift
A lucky plant is a meaningful gift for a housewarming (Pachira for the prosperity of the new home), a project launch (Pilea for financial luck), a birthday, or New Year. Our versions in decorative pots—Pachira in black ceramic or natural basket, Coffea in a golden pot—are ready to give. Find our ready-to-gift plants collection and our guides plants to give: symbolism and meaning and giving a plant in winter.
Where to place your lucky plants according to feng shui?
In feng shui, each area of the home corresponds to a life domain. The southeast corner is the wealth zone: it’s the ideal spot for Pachira, Pilea, or Crassula. The entrance benefits from plants with upward energy like Zamioculcas or Ficus Ginseng. The living room welcomes plants that promote family harmony. Whatever your relationship with feng shui, grouping plants in one space always creates a positive atmosphere. Read our article creating a relaxing green corner at home.
