Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the white bracts of my Anthurium turning yellow? Excess direct light is the most common cause — move the plant to a gentler, indirect exposure, and new bracts will grow back white.
How often does the White Anthurium bloom? Under optimal conditions, it blooms almost continuously, producing new bracts every 6 to 8 weeks — consistent watering and a monthly feed of flowering fertilizer are the two most important factors.

🌸 Pure white waxy bracts • 🌿 Glossy green foliage • 🌤️ Bright indoors / Partial shade • 💧 Moderate watering • 📏 H43 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The Anthurium White, also known as the White Flamingo, brightens interiors with its waxy, pure white bracts contrasting with deep, glossy green foliage. Native to Colombia, this plant blooms almost continuously — its bracts last for several weeks before being renewed. Pair it with other flowering plants.
Its white blooms make it an exceptional gift — Anthurium remains one of the most popular choices for giving a plant all year round.
Light and placement
Anthurium White likes soft light and bright rooms without direct sun — direct sun fades the white bracts and burns the glossy foliage.
- Light: bright indoors to partial shade — indirect light is ideal.
- Ideal for: living room, office, bedroom, elegant entryway.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C, protected from drafts.
- Substrate: light, well-drained potting soil suitable for tropical plants.
Watering and care
- Watering: moderate — keep the substrate slightly moist without excess. Use water at room temperature, preferably low in limescale. Its ideal placement depends on the balance between light and humidity.
- Frequency: approximately once a week in summer, every 10 days in winter.
- Humidity: enjoys a humid atmosphere — mist the foliage regularly or place the pot on a bed of damp clay pebbles.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, using fertilizer specially formulated for flowering plants.
- Care: remove faded bracts to encourage the next bloom — wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to preserve their shine.
Decor ideas and plant pairings
Its pure white bracts bring visual light to a plant arrangement — they act as a natural focal point without overwhelming the decor.
- White floral duo: pair it with Spathiphyllum Torelli with its white spathes — two white-flowering plants, two different flower shapes, the same care requirements, and a cohesive, elegant floral arrangement.
- In contrast with colorful Anthuriums: pair it with the bright red Anthurium Calon or the burgundy Anthurium Black Love — all three colors together create a spectacular floral arrangement within the same genus.
- Decorative pot: white ceramic or matte beige stoneware enhances the purity of the bracts without creating a distracting contrast.
Verdeia tips
- Avoid direct sun: the white bracts are particularly sensitive — even a few hours of direct sun are enough to turn them yellow or fade them irreversibly.
- Low-limescale water is essential: limescale deposits on the glossy leaves are highly visible and difficult to remove — use filtered water or water left to stand in the open air for 24 hours.
- Remove faded bracts at the base: cut the entire stem close to the foliage as soon as a bract droops — this stimulates the production of new buds and keeps the plant actively flowering.
