Frequently Asked Questions
What happens after a Guzmania blooms? The mother plant gradually dies after flowering but produces several offshoots at its base — separate them when they reach half its size and repot them separately to grow new plants.
How long do Guzmania bracts last? The bracts remain decorative for 3 to 6 months depending on growing conditions — good indirect light and high humidity extend their duration and color intensity.

🌺 Red-orange bracts • ☀️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Water in the center • 🌿 Blooming 3 to 6 months • 🐾 Non-toxic
Native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, the Guzmania 'Hope' is an epiphytic bromeliad that naturally grows attached to canopy trees. Its bright red-orange bracts — which are not true flowers but modified leaves — remain decorative for 3 to 6 months, offering an intense and long-lasting tropical color among the most spectacular in our Guzmania collection and our indoor tropical plants.
Which bromeliad to choose?
Our catalog offers several bromeliads with different colors and shapes:
- Guzmania 'Hope' (this plant) — red-orange bracts and central cylindrical spike, rosette of shiny green leaves (H40 cm | Pot Ø12 cm). The most flamboyant version.
- Guzmania 'Happiness' — bracts with different shades, same rosette shape. The version with alternative colors.
- Guzmania 'Ostara' — another Guzmania color. The complementary version to create a trio.
- Vriesea 'Élan' — bromeliad with flattened bicolor spike bracts, slender form (H55 cm | Pot Ø12 cm). The most architectural version.
- Tillandsia cyanea — compact bromeliad with purple flowers on a pink spathe, very different in shape. The most delicate version.
Light & location
- Light: bright indirect light to bright partial shade — never direct sunlight that burns leaves and fades bracts.
- Ideal: bright living room, bathroom with window, office near an East or North-facing window.
- Temperature: 18 to 25 °C — enjoys warmth and ambient humidity.
- Substrate: light and very airy — special orchid or bromeliad mix (bark, peat, perlite).
Watering & care
- Watering: pour water directly into the center of the rosette — the central "vase" should always be filled with fresh water. This is the natural watering method of this epiphyte and one of the most fascinating aspects of its life cycle.
- Renewal: empty and refresh the water in the center every 2 weeks to prevent stagnation.
- Substrate: keep slightly moist without excess — allow to dry slightly between waterings.
- Water: prefer non-calcareous water — rainwater, filtered, or tap water left to stand.
- Humidity: prefers 60–80% ambient humidity — mist leaves regularly.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring-summer, very diluted liquid fertilizer (quarter dose) poured into the center.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
- Tropical flowering trio: pair it with a red Anthurium and a Vriesea 'Élan' — three tropical plants with long-lasting blooms in different shapes and reds for a colorful and very coherent tropical atmosphere.
- Focal point on coffee table: placed alone at eye level, its red-orange bracts create an immediate focal point that enlivens any living room — it is the bromeliad offering the best color-to-ease-of-care ratio in the catalog.
- Ideal pot: white ceramic or terracotta — neutral and warm tones highlight the intensity of the red-orange bracts without color competition.
Verdeia tips
- Empty and refresh the water in the center every two weeks: stagnant water in the rosette promotes rot and mosquitoes — regular renewal is enough to keep the plant perfectly healthy.
- Collect offsets after flowering: the mother plant naturally dies after flowering but produces several offsets at its base — separate them when they reach half the size of the mother plant and repot separately to continue the journey.
- Place it in a bright bathroom: the room’s natural humidity replicates its tropical habitat conditions and reduces the need for misting — this is the ideal location for this epiphyte.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
