Frequently asked questions
How much space does a Philodendron 'Green Wonder' need? Its sprawling habit can reach 120 to 150 cm in width at maturity — allow at least 80 cm of clearance on each side so its long leaves can spread freely without bending against a wall or furniture.
Can you propagate a Philodendron 'Green Wonder'? Yes, cut a stem with 2 to 3 leaves and a visible node, then place it in a glass of water in indirect light — the first roots appear in 2 to 3 weeks before repotting into a fresh, well-draining substrate.

🌿 Large glossy dark green lance-shaped leaves • ☀️ Bright indirect light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🏙️ XXL sprawling plant
Native to the tropical forests of South America, the Philodendron 'Green Wonder' stands out from compact Philodendrons thanks to its decidedly spreading, airy habit — its large, glossy dark green lance-shaped leaves, with slightly wavy edges and pronounced veins, are borne on long reddish petioles that give them a very distinctive movement and lightness. At 100 cm, it is a major structural plant among our large indoor plants and our Philodendron collection.
Which Philodendron variety should you choose?
The Philodendron genus offers very different shapes depending on the variety — here's how 'Green Wonder' compares with the other large sizes in the catalog:
- Philodendron 'Green Wonder' (this plant) — large glossy dark green lance-shaped leaves on long reddish petioles, sprawling and airy habit (H100 cm | Pot Ø24 cm). The most spectacular version in a large sprawling format.
- Philodendron Congo Red — large dark green oval leaves with burgundy undersides and petioles, compact upright habit (H80 cm | Pot Ø27 cm). The most compact and upright XXL version.
- Philodendron melanochrysum — velvety dark green leaves with light veins, climbing habit (H75 cm | Pot Ø21 cm). The velvety collector’s version.
- Philodendron Imperial Green — large glossy oval leaves in a very dense upright rosette. The most architectural and structured version.
- Philodendron Imperial Red — same silhouette as the Imperial Green, but with young copper-red leaves that turn green as they age. The most colorful version.
Light & location
- Light: bright indirect light to partial shade — good light keeps the leaves intensely glossy and stimulates growth. Avoid direct sun, which burns the leaves.
- Ideal: spacious living room, office, large room, entrance — allow enough space for its sprawling habit to develop freely.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden changes or drafts.
- Substrate: light, rich, and well-draining — universal potting soil mixed with perlite.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the top 3 to 5 cm of substrate dry out between waterings. In a 24 cm pot, mastering watering is essential — yellowing leaves almost always indicate overwatering.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer, every 2 weeks in winter.
- Drainage: essential — pot with drainage holes and well-draining substrate.
- Humidity: prefers 50–70% humidity — mist occasionally or place near other plants.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring-summer, diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
- Care: gently wipe large leaves with a damp cloth every 3 to 4 weeks to preserve their characteristic shine.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
- Large-plant arrangement: pair it with a Philodendron Congo Red with a compact upright habit and a graphic Calathea on the floor — sprawling habit / upright habit / low habit: three complementary shapes for a very structured large plant arrangement.
- As a living room centerpiece: its sprawling habit naturally fills a corner — allow at least 80 cm clearance on each side so its long leaves can spread without constraint.
- Ideal pot: a Brussels anthracite pot highlights the glossy dark green of the foliage by contrast, or a natural Selin basket for a more organic and tropical vibe.
Verdeia tips
- Allow enough space from the start: its sprawling and airy habit can reach 120 to 150 cm wide at maturity — a cramped spot forces petioles to bend and distorts the plant’s natural silhouette.
- Rotate the pot every 2 weeks: the Philodendron orients its large leaves toward the light — regular rotation prevents all leaves from leaning to one side and maintains a balanced, airy habit.
- Repot every 2 years in spring: this fast-growing species quickly exhausts its substrate — a proper repotting in spring into a slightly larger pot immediately boosts growth.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
